The Wrong Path
The first thing to thank God for when you wake up in the morning is that you opened your eyes to experience another day of life. No one is promised tomorrow, and there is no assurance when you go to bed at night that you will wake up. It’s important to pray before you go to sleep - ask God to forgive you for any sins you’ve committed and surrender your heart and life to Him. Let Him know how much you love Him. Then, in the morning when you open your eyes, your first prayer should be, “Thank You, Jesus, for another day of life, another day to serve You and to praise You for being my awesome Lord and Savior.” You’ll be surprised at how much smoother your day will go when you start with prayer and how much better you’ll sleep at night when you pray before climbing into bed. Prayer is what keeps you connected to God, for without it you’ll feel distant and disoriented. Don’t forget that prayer is a conversation with God, and like any communication, one person can’t do all the talking. It’s important to listen as well because listening is the beginning of prayer. God speaks in the silence of your heart, and it is through God’s Holy Spirit that you receive guidance, direction, and the answers that you seek. Life is a journey that must be traveled no matter how bad the road conditions are, so keep your eyes on Jesus. He knows where all the potholes are, the danger signs, and safe detours. Without staying connected to Him, you’ll end up in the ditch, walking down the wrong path, or even worse, facing a fatal collision with the devil. Listen to God’s voice gently telling you which way to go. If you have tuned God out and followed your own path, it’s not too late. No matter how long you have traveled in the wrong direction, you always have the choice to turn around. If you are going down a bumpy road and are unhappy with what you see in your rearview mirror, and what lies ahead isn’t any better, then get off the road and ask God to show you the path He wants you to take! The Bible says in Isaiah 30:21, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’ ” There’s no better way to go than God’s way. He’s better than any GPS ever could be because He will always lead you to the right place... on time. Text: Jeremiah 42:3, Psalm 37:5, Psalm 25:4-5, Isaiah 48:17
