THE ADVENT TRUTH
Most people have grown up believing what they were told instead of what the Bible actually says. So let’s drop two truths that shock almost everyone the first time they hear them:
#1 – Hell is not eternal.
The Bible never says sinners burn forever in a fiery pit. It says the “wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23), not eternal life in torment. Eternal life is only for the saved (John 3:16). The wicked will be “burned up” (Malachi 4:1-3) — reduced to ashes — not kept alive in endless pain. That would make God more cruel than the devil! Revelation 20:9 says fire “devoured” them, not “tormented forever.” The fire is eternal in effect, not in duration — it destroys completely. That’s real justice and mercy: sin is ended, not immortalized.
as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 1:7
These cities are not still burning today, but the results of that burning is eternal.
#2 – Sunday isn’t the Sabbath.
The Bible Sabbath was never changed by God or Christ. From Genesis 2:2-3 to Exodus 20:8-11, the seventh day — Saturday — was blessed, sanctified, and commanded for rest and worship. Jesus kept it (Luke 4:16). The disciples kept it (Acts 17:2; 18:4). Nowhere in Scripture does God transfer His holy day to Sunday. That shift came centuries later through church tradition and Roman influence (see Daniel 7:25 — the “little horn” that would “think to change times and laws.”)
These aren’t “minor” truths — they reveal who we really worship, and what kind of character we believe God has. A God of love doesn’t torture forever, and a God of truth doesn’t change His law.
The end-time issue isn’t just about belief (You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! James 2:19) — it’s about worship and obedience (Revelation 14:12).
So… bet you didn’t know that one!
