Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
I do believe that I am trying to catch a cold. I woke up early this morning with a coughing fit. I was sure that my alarm had not gone off, because the dog had not planted herself at my side, telling me it was time to get up. When my alarm did, finally, go off…my head felt heavy…so I do believe it is time for my annual ailment. LOL.
Over the last couple of months, like six, my house has disappeared. Mind you, I am not an over-the-top tidy person to begin with, so if I tell you my house has disappeared into clutter, I am working on hoarder status. This is the funny part; it is not all rooms. I have a select set of rooms that I just won't allow the clutter to build up in; however, to get to those rooms, well, it is kind of scary. This morning as I was navigating my trail to the coffee pot, I have decided to pick one of these wonderful rooms and fix them one at a time.
I have found, in the past, when this happens due to my really silly and off-schedule, that the more I don’t do anything, the more it grows, thus creating an atmosphere of an impossible task. It becomes overwhelming, and I continue to do nothing. However, my inner adult continues to tell me that this needs to be fixed and soon. Then the battle of the wills ensues, and to be honest, the undone wins most of the time. Now, the task of cleaning is not that difficult; it is just a matter of finding a corner and working your way out of it. Or in my case, pick a room and do it til it is done. One room done. Then move to the next room. I know from experience that if I do not wake up with the intent of cleaning … it won't get done. Also, it all does not have to be done at once. Pick a room today, do another room tomorrow. Whatever it takes to get it done.
If you think about it. This is the same theory used in many cases of our walk with Him. He finds that we are cluttered with the world. Overwhelming covered in the world. He finds one corner and begins to clean it up. As that area becomes heavenly, He moves to the next area. Meanwhile, the enemy sees the progress and starts to throw trash and clutter into the clean spaces. To ensure that you are cleaned appropriately, God will return to the starting point with us and clean it as many times as necessary. He never stops.
Then one day He gets to the area of commitment. He cleans. He tidies. He polishes. And you/we say “Yes” to Him and him alone. At that point, he washes away our clutter with his blood. Now the enemy is furious and continues to throw the road trash back in your face…but all that has been dealt with, and you can ignore it, because the Father remembers no more.
Your clutter problem will continue to be a problem, however, not in the same way as it was before. It cannot overtake or overwhelm you as long as you give it to Him and trust that He will tend to it. The ‘trick’ is to give it to God…and…AND…leave it with God. It is when we try to clean that ugly clutter alone that it begins to build again. However, when we leave it with Him, the piles do not pile up.
Something to think about.
Be blessed today my friends.
***As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that at goes out from mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. –Isaiah 55:10-11
