Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
This week seems to have taken on an attitude of its own. Monday was a ‘day after the weekend w/call off-it is’ compounded with missorted mail done by a computer. Tuesday was doctor day. Wednesday was fine and all was well until other doctors had to mess up my schedule. Today is starting off like Monday … I am sure this is just coincidental; however, I am starting to feel like Gibbs and rule whatever … nothing happens by coincidence.
Wow. I have been up for an hour and have only gotten one paragraph typed. I wonder if I can get paid for the texting on work business I have been conducting to make my morning run smoother. LOL. It’s all good.
So, yesterday I made a big OOPS. I did not click the right button for an email I was trying to send to my boss to make her laugh. A new protocol has been instituted, and I was making fun of it because it really does not pertain to us. We follow the rules. Anyway, I hit ‘reply’ instead of ‘forward’ and my brain was thinking I was talking to her….um…nope. It was her boss who sent the email. FORTUNATELY, he took the email in the humor it was meant and even offered to give me his desk if I wanted to try it out. I politely declined, apologized, and explained that I do not have enough Aleve to do his job.
When I realized that I had made the mistake, I was like, ‘well, there goes retirement…lol’. I realized only after he replied. And knowing that it was already a ‘postal’ day’, his mood could have been anywhere. But he realized that I was just poking fun, and I explained in my apology that no disrespect was intended … I used to get in trouble for not reading my emails, now I am putting myself in trouble for not reading WHO is sending the emails … haha.
That moment in time when you know you have made an error that could result in ‘something’, and you are not sure how to proceed. The enemy will pounce on that opportunity in a heartbeat. And he did. He flooded my mind with all kinds of ‘what ifs’. He attempted to create a scenario of instability and insecurity. He forgot who he was talking to.
After I realized whom I had emailed, read his reply, and understood that he understood it was making light of something that does not pertain to us, I was then able to let my boss in on the oops. There was nothing I could have done to reverse it and the consequences would have been whatever, I would have accepted them and went on with life. I refuse to stew in something I have no control over.
After the fact, we now are laughing at the look on my face when I saw him reply and knowing that it was already ‘a day’. The laughing continued as my boss said she may need medicine to continue to work with me…I seem to have that affect on people … haha.
Many times we will not be able to control the situation; however, we can control how we respond and react to a situation. When things get weird, keep your head up because He has already been there and is clearing the way for you.
Be blessed today my friends.
