The Ultimate Death.

November 20, 2025

John Fieldsend’s parents were cast into the gas chambers of Auschwitz, never to be heard from again. But he and his older brother Curt were saved because of a little-known stockbroker from England named Nicholas Winton.

When the Nazis entered Czechoslovakia, John’s parents put their children on a Kindertransport, a train carrying children to safety in England. It took 50 years before a scrapbook of names of these children was found in Winton’s attic. Recorded are the names of 669 mostly Jewish children he rescued by paying for their passage.

Where your name is written in the books of heaven determines whether you go to safety or to destruction. If it is written in the Book of Life, you will joyously enter the kingdom of heaven, where you will be safe forever. If your name is “not found written in the Book of Life,” you will be “cast into the lake of fire.”

The Bible speaks of different books in heaven. The Book of Life mentioned here is a list of all who are saved. Moses spoke of this book when he asked the Lord to forgive Israel’s sins: “‘If You will forgive their sin—but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book which You have written.’ And the LORD said to Moses, ‘Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book’” (Exodus 32:32, 33).

Another book is one of remembrance in which God records the good deeds of His faithful. “Those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name” (Malachi 3:16).

But another book records the works of the unrighteous: “God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:14). “‘Behold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silence, but will repay … your iniquities” (Isaiah 65:6, 7).

Jesus has paid for your name to be in the Book of Life. Will you accept His offer?

Dear Father, I accept Your gift of eternal life. Please write my name in Your Book of Life. Thank you!
