What are you thankful for today? An excellent question to start every day with, but today is Thanksgiving Day in the U.S.A., a day historically, to celebrate the Pilgrims first harvest in this new land.
we Americans tend to set out lavish meals on this day, much of which gets thrown away after awhile. I personally like to share in the abundance, even though I am retired and live on a fixed income.
Being a minister (retired pastor), I give of my time helping the homeless population where I live. When my wife and I clear out the excess clothing from our closets, we take them along with blankets to the homeless shelters where they are properly handed out to these unfortunate victims of society that many see as bums.
I am thankful today especially, for the fact that, but for the grace of God, there go I.
