Romans 15:14-21 Exploring NIV

Paul the minister to the Gentiles

Romans 15:14-21 I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me

to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God.

I will not to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done--

by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.

It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation.

Rather, as it is written; "Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand."

Thanksgiving and Prayer

Ephesians 1:15-19 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God's people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,

and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength

Romans 11:13-14 I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry

in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them.

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by humans standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.

But God choose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God choose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God choose the lowly things of this world and the despised things-- and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are,

so that no one may boast before him.

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

Therefore, as it is written; "Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord."

Acts 15:12 The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the signs and wonders God has done among the Gentiles through them.

Acts 21:18-21 The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present.

Paul greeted them and reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to Paul; "You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and all of them are zealous for the law.

They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs.

Acts 2:18-21 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy.

I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord,

And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

The Suffering and Glory of the Servant

Isaiah 52:13-15 See, my servant will act wisely; he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.

Just as there were many who were appalled at him--his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human likeness--

So he will sprinkle many nations, and kings will shut their mouths because of him. For what they were not told, they will see, and what they have not heard, they will understand,
