Content and faithfulness

Preach the Word: The core of great preaching is faithfulness to the message, meaning a deep and accurate understanding of scripture.
Be Christ-centered: Sermons should focus on Christ and His work, bringing the gospel into every
message.
Honesty and accuracy: This means being truthful about difficult texts, acknowledging different views, and avoiding manipulation or careless application of
scripture.

Character and conviction

Humility: A great preacher is humble, acknowledges when they are wrong, and demonstrates
gentleness.

Confidence: Confidence comes from a deep conviction in the truth of scripture and a belief that they have been called to preach.

Authenticity: They speak from the heart about what is real to them, rather than trying to be someone they are not or saying what is expected.

Prayerfulness: The best preachers are prayerful, acknowledging they cannot do the work alone.

Delivery and communication

Effective communication: This involves teaching clearly, using illustrations, and making powerful applications of the message.
Passionate delivery: A monotone delivery is dull; great preachers use their presence, passion, and a variety of vocal and physical movements to make the message impactful, though not in a way that becomes a performance.
