Romans 15:14-21 Exploring CSB

From Jerusalem to Illyricum

Romans 15:14-21 My brothers and sisters, I myself am convinced about you that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another.

Nevertheless, I have written to remind you more boldly on some points because of the grace given me by God

to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving as a priest of the gospel of God.  My purpose is that the Gentiles may be an acceptable offering, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Therefore I have reason to boast in Christ Jesus regarding what pertains to God.

For I would not dare say anything except what Christ has accomplished though me by word and deed for the obedience of the Gentiles,

by the power of miraculous signs and wonders, and by the power of God's Spirit. As a result, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum.

My aim is to preach the gospel where Christ has not been named, so that I will not build on someone else's foundation,

but, as it is written, Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.

Prayer For Spiritual Insight

Ephesians 1:15-19 This is why, since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

I never stop giving thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers.

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the mighty working of his strength.

Romans 11:13-14 Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Insofar as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,

if I might somehow make my own people jealous and save some of them.

Boasting Only in the LORD

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 Brother and sisters, consider your calling; Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.

Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.

God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world--what is viewed as nothing--to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,

so that no one may boast in his presence.

It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who become wisdom from God for us--our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,

in order that, as it is written: Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.

Acts 15:12 The whole assembly became silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul describe all the signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.

Acts 21:18-21 The following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present.

After greeting them, he reported in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

When they heard it, they glorified God and said, "You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are who believed, and they are all zealous for the law.

But they have been informed about you--that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to abandon Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or to live according to our customs.

Acts 2:18-21 I will even pour out my Spirit on my servants in those days, both men and women and they will prophesy.

I will display wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below: blood and fire and a cloud of smoke.

The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.

Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

The Servant's Suffering and Exaltation

Isaiah 52:13-15 See, my servant will be successful; he will be raised and lifted up and greatly exalted.

Just as many were appalled at you--his appearance was so disfigured that he did not look like a man, and his form did not resemble a human being--

so he will sprinkle many nations. Kings will shut their mouths because of him, for they will see what had not been told them, and they will understand what they had not heard.
