Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Dinner was a success yesterday. Well, a cross between lunch and dinner. Everyone was busting at the seams. The food was so good that, apparently, the mouse living in my kitchen wanted some as well. So much so that he was eating through the foil. Fortunately for us, we caught him before he got entry. So, being the kind host, I made him a plate. He is sleeping soundly now.

After everyone left, I started working on my book. This is the one for the Novel 90 competition, but it is also the fourth book in the series. The site hosting the competition was holding a writing sprint last night. I joined in, just because. It was the right arena for me to stay on course. Before that sprint was over, I finished the rough draft of the book. Over 63 thousand words. I have never written that much before. It was fun and terrifying at the same time.

I think, because I am not a reader as a rule, that when I write, I want something that is going to catch you and hold you. If you get bored, as I do with most books I want to read, then no matter how good the overall story is, you will never know because you will have put it down and walked away. Before this challenge, to write 50k or more words was not in my wheelhouse. I really only focused on a quick story and let your imagination take care of the rest. Until this book, I did not realize how much I was leaving out.

Today will be an off day from writing, my brain is not braining very well, but tomorrow I will start the editing process. First, I am going to have the computer read it to me. I already know that I am going to cringe at all the mistakes that I hear. Once I go through and fix what I can find. I will send the story in its entirety, printed, to my beta reader with a new box of red pens, so that they can read it and turn it into a road map. I do know of at least one area that is rough as all get out, but with the reading and proofing, I am positive that it will all pan out. And … if I stay the course … it will be up and available the first of the year.

Today, not only is my brain tired from the after-dinner success, but the dinner success as well. It has been a long time since I prepared a meal that required me to stand in my kitchen for as long as I did yesterday. My shoulders are reminding me that I am NOT my mother and that I am going to pay today for pretending as much. Haha. Even though I am not gifted with the talent of standing and cooking as my mother was, I was able to muscle through. I am amazed at how much I remembered she had taught me, even though I really was not paying attention.

Today I am thankful for the lessons I learned yesterday. The stamina needed to prepare a big meal. The alterations needed to correct bland but not overdo. Then the perseverance to write even though I wanted to veg. The completion of two fairly large tasks creates a sense of accomplishment, which I could not have done without His guidance and knowledge. Today I am thankful for Thanksgiving.

Be blessed today my friends.
