THE ADVENT TRUTH
Many debates rage about what skin color Jesus had, but the Bible never once tells us. In fact, the only description of His physical appearance during His life on earth says that He had “no form nor comeliness,” and that there was “no beauty that we should desire Him” (Isaiah 53:2 KJV). In other words, Jesus came in the most humble, ordinary form so that no one would follow Him for His outward looks.
When people insist that Jesus was a certain skin color—whether white, black, brown, or anything else—they miss the point entirely. These claims only feed pride, division, and racism in the church, which is the very opposite of what Christ came to accomplish. Galatians 3:28 makes it clear: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Our focus should be on who Jesus is—our Savior and King—not what He looked like. When we elevate His outward appearance, we risk creating a false Christ molded into our own image. The enemy loves to use this to stir up hatred and prejudice among believers.
Let’s be the people who rise above racism and worldly divisions, reflecting the character of Jesus instead of arguing about His skin color. What matters most is not the color of His skin but the cleansing power of His blood.
