GUARD YOUR HEART.
Proverbs 23:19 (KJV)..... Hear thou, my son, and be wise, And guide thine heart in the way.
Proverbs 4:23 (AMPC)...... Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.
The heart is the engine of your life. Without it, you can't function. Corruption stems from the heart. Life stems from the heart. You can’t have outward success without inward success. And inward success starts from the heart. If your heart is bad, your works will be bad, and God will reject them because when it comes to the things offered to God, he is not so much interested in what you drop inside but what your heart drops.
Did you notice our second theme scripture here says to GUARD your heart and not to GUIDE your heart? What is the difference, you may ask? Both of them sound alike but don't mean the same thing. To GUARD is to watch like a security person over in order to protect or control. But to GUIDE is to show the way to others. A person who advises others, especially in matters of behaviour or belief.
What we are commanded to do is to 'GUARD' our heart and not to 'GUIDE' our heart. It means that you are to put a check on what goes into your heart and not to direct people on how to live. If you don’t 'GUARD' your heart, then you shouldn’t 'GUIDE' people's lives.
Prayer:
Oh father, I thank you for this truth. It has opened my eyes to the way I am to treat my heart and the things that go in into it and i know I am a winner already. Amen.
Bible Reference: Proverbs 2:17, 6:7, 11:3.
Wisdom Capsule:
Proverbs 17:15 (MSG)..... Whitewashing bad people and throwing mud on good people are equally abhorrent to God.
