Day 6 — Jonah: The Reluctant Evangelist

(The Entire Book of Jonah)

THE SCENE

God says: “Go to Nineveh.”
Jonah says: “Nope.”
And buys a boat ticket in the opposite direction.

The prophet runs from the God who formed the wind
and then seems surprised when the wind chases him.

Storm.
Panic.
A guilty confession.
A sea-salt baptism into the belly of a great fish.

It takes Jonah three days to pray what he could have prayed in three minutes.

God delivers him — not because Jonah is noble,
but because God is merciful.

He preaches a simple message:
“Forty days and Nineveh will be overthrown.”

No passion.
No heart.
No crafted sermon.

Yet an entire violent empire repents.

Jonah sulks.
God saves.
Grace wins.

Feel like running?

You’re still usable.

God is bigger than your mood.
Your obedience, even when reluctant, can shake cities.

PRAYER

Lord,
drag my feet where my heart is too slow to go.
Teach me obedience that survives my emotions.
Use me even when I’m imperfect.
Amen.
