Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Snow was supposed to start at 3 AM. It is now almost 6 and … oooo what a storm. Haha. It is coming down, I can see it, and it has confectioner's sugar covering the roads; however, not much of a storm. It could build to something over time, but the predictions of yesterday are really lacking, at least for my area.
On the daily meeting phone call yesterday, the bosses were issuing guidance for this storm and how to stay prepared. The consensus of the meeting was the importance of making plans for the worse, so as to not be caught off guard.
This morning, these two items bring to mind normal, everyday life. How often in life do we ‘predict’ an outcome based on the information we have before us? Daily. Right? Now…How often do we over or underestimate the outcome based on our perception of the other person’s anticipated reaction?
I understand that history plays a large role in our perception, however, each situation should be entered into with fresh expectations, until there is a reason to see other experiences. If we go into a discussion expecting resistance, then the first time we ‘feel’ we were right (either in tone or expression) then our storm builds strength. However, regardless of past encounters, if we enter into a conversation with the anticipation of a minimum of ‘agree to disagree’ then regardless of the tone or expression, the storm loses strength.
Now, when we apply this to our storms of life, not just conversations … the same effect is possible. When our health takes a sideways trend, we can panic and only see the absolute ugly … or … we can go at it with “hmm”. That is not to say that the absolute ugly is not a consideration, but we should not live there. The same can be applied to finances. Relationships. Employment. All storms in life.
How do we not go instantly and stay in the ugly?
Very good question.
Him. He is the answer.
Is there going to snow today? Yes. Is it going to be bad? Most likely. Is it going to stop me from doing what I have to do? Absolutely not.
Do I have relationship, financial, or employment storms? Yes. Are they going to cover me in so much darkness that I cannot function? NO. Why? Because I do not listen to myself. I listen to Him. In all these storms, I lean on Him. I have to. The storms that are whirling around are category big, with potential ugly outcomes, but I know that there is nothing that I cannot overcome because it is not me overcoming them. I am just in the boat. I do not look at the storm. I look at Jesus. The storm does not matter. Only Him.
The hardest part is I have the gift to see everything as it unfolds, so it is difficult some days to stay focused. Not every day is a success, but I refuse to let the enemy near me. He is not worth my peace. So, every day, I adjust my eyes to see only what I need to see. That is the peace of God. It is more challenging some days, but it is possible.
Be blessed today my friends.
