Do Not Fear, Only Go Forward

Scripture

Deuteronomy 1:21 (NKJV)
Look, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged.

Step Into What God Has Promised

In this verse, Moses reminds Israel that God Himself has placed the Promised Land before them. The way was open. The promise was sure. Nothing stood between them and the blessing except fear and discouragement. God had already spoken, already prepared, and already guaranteed the victory. All they had to do was believe and obey.

For believers today, this verse teaches us that God sets opportunities, callings, and blessings before us—but fear can keep us from stepping into His promises. Many never experience the fullness of God’s plan because they hesitate at the edge of obedience. Discouragement whispers that we are not enough. Fear shouts that the obstacles are too big. But God commands us: Do not fear. Do not be discouraged. Go up and possess what I have given you.

This verse reminds us that God’s promises require our participation. Faith takes the first step.

Reflection Questions

1. What promise or direction has God placed before me that I have hesitated to pursue?

2. Am I allowing fear or discouragement to hold me back from obedience?

3. What step of faith can I take today toward what God has spoken?

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for the promises and opportunities You have set before me. Strengthen my heart to overcome fear and discouragement. Help me to walk in obedience and trust You fully. Give me courage to step into everything You have called me to. In Jesus name, Amen.
