DISSERVICE: WHEN CHURCH WORKERS SERVE GOD WITH UNCLEAN HANDS
INTRODUCTION
Serving in the house of God is a holy calling. Every assignment—ushering, singing, teaching, leading prayers, playing instruments, preaching—is a sacred trust. But today, many who stand before God’s people have fallen into a deadly trap: living in sin while rendering service in God’s name.
This is not only sin—it is disservice, a dangerous misuse of divine privilege.
God warns:
> “Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
— 1 Peter 1:16
When a church worker lives in fornication, adultery, drunkenness, homosexuality, lust, occult involvement, or hidden sin, the person is not serving God but serving the devil inside God’s house.
Jesus said:
> “No man can serve two masters.”
— Matthew 6:24
---
THE GRAVE DANGER OF DISSERVICE
1. God Rejects Their Service
God does not accept the service of an unclean vessel.
> “Be clean, ye that bear the vessels of the LORD.”
— Isaiah 52:11
A choir mistress in fornication…
A Sunday school teacher in adultery…
An usher operating in lust…
A pastor using satanic power…
An instrumentalist living in drunkenness…
Such service becomes abomination.
> “To the wicked… what hast thou to do to declare my statutes?”
— Psalm 50:16
---
2. Their Service Becomes a Curse, Not a Blessing
God warns priests who serve in sin:
> “I will curse your blessings.”
— Malachi 2:2
A cursed service produces:
spiritual dryness
shame
disgrace
loss of spiritual authority
demonic infiltration
---
3. They Open Doors for Demons to Attack the Church
A worker living in sin becomes a spiritual gate for demons.
> “Neither give place to the devil.”
— Ephesians 4:27
Some churches are battling spiritual attacks because workers at the altar are living in darkness.
---
4. Their Name Is Removed from the Book of Life
If they die in this condition, the consequences are eternal.
> “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
— Ezekiel 18:20
> “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord… Depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
— Matthew 7:21–23
Imagine spending years in church—yet ending in hell!
---
5. They Receive Stricter Judgment
Those who serve God while living in sin will face heavier judgment.
> “To whom much is given, much shall be required.”
— Luke 12:48
---
THE CONSEQUENCES IF THEY DIE IN SUCH A STATE
✔ eternal separation from God – 2 Thessalonians 1:8–9
✔ their works are burned – 1 Corinthians 3:15
✔ their position becomes a witness against them – James 3:1
✔ hellfire and everlasting regret – Mark 9:43
✔ no second chance after death – Hebrews 9:27
This is the eternal danger of disservice.
