“For in him we live, and move, and have our being…” — Acts 17:28
Thought Of The Day...
In Acts 17, Paul stands in the center of Athens—a city overflowing with gods, idols, philosophies, and opinions. Surrounded by people searching for truth yet blinded by deception, Paul proclaims a message that cuts through confusion with divine clarity:
The true and living God is not unknown. He is near. He is Creator, Sustainer, and Lord.
Paul points to their altar “TO THE UNKNOWN GOD,” revealing a timeless truth:
Many people worship what they do not truly know—ideas, success, pleasure, money, relationships, philosophies—but still feel empty. Why? Because the human soul was created for the God who made heaven and earth.
Paul declares that the God who formed the world does not live in man-made temples and is not defined by human ideas. Instead:
• He created all nations from one blood.
• He set the boundaries of our lives with purpose.
• He designed us to seek Him, reach for Him, and know Him.
• And He is never far away—He is always near.
This changes everything.
You are not an accident.
You are not wandering without direction.
You are not praying to a distant God.
You live in the God who created you.
You move by His grace.
You exist because He sustains you every second.
Every breath is evidence of His nearness.
Every moment is proof of His faithfulness.
Every hunger in your heart is an invitation to know Him more.
God is not hiding.
He is drawing you.
He is surrounding you.
He is closer than your next heartbeat.
Something To Think About...
• What “unknown gods” (distractions, idols, habits) try to take God’s place in your life?
• In what area do you need to remember that God is near and fully involved?
• How does knowing that you “live, move, and have your being” in Him change the way you see your day?
Prayer...
Heavenly Father, I come before You in awe of who You are—the Creator of heaven and earth, the God who spoke the world into existence, and yet the God who draws near to those who seek You. Thank You that You are not distant, silent, or hidden. You are the God who reveals Yourself, the God who surrounds me, the God who holds my very breath in Your hands.
Lord, Your Word says that in You I live, and move, and have my being. Today, I acknowledge that every heartbeat, every step, every moment of my existence is sustained by Your grace. I confess that I am nothing without You, but with You I have purpose, identity, and strength. Thank You for forming me, choosing me, and placing me exactly where I am for a divine reason.
Father, just as Paul walked through Athens surrounded by idols, I recognize that I too live in a world filled with distractions, false gods, and empty pursuits. Tear down every idol in my heart—anything I depend on or run to more than You. Remove anything that tries to take Your place in my thoughts, desires, and decisions. Make my heart a sanctuary where You alone reign as Lord.
Draw me closer, Lord. Deepen my hunger for You. Cause me to seek You—not casually or occasionally, but passionately and intentionally. Let my soul reach out for You daily with expectancy, knowing that You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You. Thank You that You are near—even when I don’t feel it, even when I’m discouraged, even when I’m overwhelmed. You are closer than the air I breathe.
Father, guide my steps today. Lead me in Your wisdom and break every chain of confusion, fear, and doubt. Remind me that You have determined the times and boundaries of my life. Nothing about my journey is random. You have placed me where I am for a purpose—to reflect Your glory, to walk in Your will, and to point others to the true and living God.
Strengthen me in the areas where I feel weak. Lift me in the moments where I feel low. Renew my mind where I feel weary. Let Your presence be a shield around me, Your peace be an anchor within me, and Your Word be a lamp before me.
Lord, help me to walk confidently in the truth that You are not far away. You are with me in every season, every challenge, and every decision. Wrap me in Your love today. Surround my family, my home, my mind, and my spirit with the power of Your presence.
And Father, let my life be a testimony like Paul’s—a voice that declares who You truly are to those who don’t yet know You. Use me to shine Your light in a world searching for answers. Let the peace, wisdom, and hope You give overflow to everyone around me.
I thank You for hearing this prayer. I thank You that You are the God who listens, the God who cares, and the God who acts. I place my day, my heart, and my future in Your hands. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, Amen.
Enjoy Your Sunday Services and God Bless.
