Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Mother Nature sure has shown up today. She started yesterday and gradually made her presence known that she was here to stay. I just took my pupster out to potty. She has had an upset tummy from all the scraps she got over the last few days from Thanksgiving, so I really wasn’t ready for her to pop and go as we went out the door. It is a good thing that I applied the three points of contact safety talk that was given yesterday at work…I was able to not fall down.

I knew that when we got the first snow, she would have a blast. She loves to run full speed on dry ground; I knew the rabbit in her would be awakened as soon as she had the opportunity. Unfortunately, yesterday she was not feeling well; however, today, once we got the potty part done, and we got out to the pen, she was off. Since I was not expecting her to take off, because she was ill, I did not take my phone…however, I must admit, I did not think she could bounce like that. Ha-ha. Now, I do know that she is our dog (old soul) because once the initial bouncing and running was over, and the wind hit her, she was back at my feet, saying it was time to go back inside.

This scenario is much like sin. It creeps in gradually without any grandeur or announcement. Little bits of “it's not that bad” or “no one will know.” Once you start down that path, you realize that you are now committed to it and need to find a way out. Sin knows you are looking for the out, so it lays on the guilt and ‘what will people think’. In that, we start trying to figure out a way to get out without getting caught. It is an ugly and messy circle of events. However, at some point, the cold wind blows, and you realize that it is time to stop playing around and come inside…come back to Him.

It is easy to get caught up in the ‘fun’ of playing in the snow (sin) and not having a care in the world. However, staying out too long can cause severe damage to your health (frostbite) or (callousness).

Sin is very methodical and precise when it truly wants to make a massive impact. When it wants to dig the hook in deep. Most of the time, it does not jump you in a back alley but shakes your hand like an old friend. This is where we have to be diligent in our relationship with Him. When sin starts to creep, He will send out warning flags. When sin tries to justify itself, He will show His Word. When sin tries to hold you down, He sends His Love.

As we go about our day-to-day lives, I encourage you to watch for the friendly handshakes, the hooks, and the escape routes. Use the escape routes. He gives them for a reason.

Be blessed today my friends.

***For by the grace given me I say to everyone of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the measure of faith god has given you. – Romans 12:3
