Matthew 17:10-13 "Why then do the experts in the law say that Elijah must come first?" NET
Matthew 17:10-13 The disciples asked him,
Question in the Bible
"Why then do the experts in the law say that Elijah must come first?"
Answer in the Bible
He answered, "Elijah does indeed come first and will restore all things."
And I tell you that Elijah has already come. Yet they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. In the same way, the Son of Man will suffer at their hands."
Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them about John the Baptist.
Malachi 4:5-6 Look, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD arrives.
He will encourage fathers and their children to return to me, so that I will not come and strike the earth with judgment."
Matthew 11:11-15 "I tell you the truth, among those born of women, no one has arisen greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he is!
From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and forceful people lay hold of it.
For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John appeared.
And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, who is to come.
The one whom has ears had better listen!
