THREE ANGELS BROADCASTING NETWORK DEVOTIONAL
Absolutely Nothing.

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38–39).
Years ago, my husband travelled many miles away from home to participate in a training required by his employer. Up to that point, we had never been apart for more than a day. As he pulled out of the driveway, my anxiety was high. How in the world was I going to survive this time of separation? Each day he was away I was able to speak with him by phone. Yet, at night, I found that I was unable to sleep because my mind was riddled with anxious thoughts. By the third night, I was so exhausted that I called my sister in tears and told her what I was experiencing. She responded with a gentle, “I’m on my way over,” and lovingly stayed with me for the next couple of nights. It wasn’t quite the same as having my hubby home, but I was thankful for her support and kind gesture.
That was a long week, but finally, the love of my life returned home and I couldn’t have been happier. The part of me that seemed to be missing was back and once again, I slept like a baby.
Throughout our lives, there will be times when we face separation from someone we love. It may be for a few days, months, or perhaps even years. The pain of detachment is especially hard when it’s the result of a tragic event such as divorce or death. What is it about separation from our loved ones that brings such fear and dread to our hearts? The answer to this question varies, of course, depending upon who you ask.
Thankfully, God has promised in His Word that nothing can separate us from Him. His love is eternal, and this means that He has fully committed Himself to us and promises to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5)!
While holding fast to this promise, we would do well to beware of the enemy’s plot. Remember, Satan’s goal is to have us doubt God’s faithfulness, and he tries to accomplish this through various temptations. He points out our past failures, present circumstances, or tempts us to worry about the future in order to cast a dark shadow of unbelief over our minds.
But the good news is that God sent His Son in human flesh to gain the victory over every trial and temptation for us. By faith, His victory is our victory! Therefore, the trials and temptations we face cannot separate us from Him—unless we choose to allow it.
Our Savior is the Supreme Ruler of Heaven and Earth. While He was here, the powers of darkness held no sway over Him. As His children, we can be assured that the adversary and his fallen angels have no power over us, either. When we trust and obey the Lord, all the fury of hell itself cannot separate us from Jesus. Although we see the world around us coming apart at the seams, and the future of our society appears grim, we can have the assurance that nothing happening in our community—or upon the entire Earth—can take God’s love away from us.
As for the future, our Lord has told us through His Word what will take place right before He returns. Sometimes we may be tempted to worry about how we’re going to make it through those challenging times. But we can have peace when we truly believe that no matter what happens, nothing can remove our names from the Lamb’s Book of Life or cancel our citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven.
We can also find great comfort when we remember that God’s amazing love is not hindered by distance. We could climb the highest mountain or board a spacecraft and travel through the cosmos and still not be separated from His love. It can be found in the lowest parts of the sea, the deepest caves, and even the center of the Earth.
So, when you’re separated from that special person, remember there’s absolutely nothing in all of God’s Creation—whether it be man, or beast, or even death, itself—that can separate you from your Father’s love. One day, very soon, you will see His face and be a part of that great family reunion in the Kingdom of Heaven. Hallelujah!
