Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 30 + GNT

True Happiness

Matthew 5:3-12 "Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor; the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!

"Happy are those who mourn; God will comfort them!

"Happy are those who are humble; the will receive what God has promised!

"Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires; God will satisfy them fully!

"Happy are those who are merciful to others; God will be merciful to them!

"Happy are the pure in heart; they will see God!

"Happy are those who work for peace;

God will call them his children!

"Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires; the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!

"Happy are you when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of evil lies against you because you are my followers.

Be happy and glad, for a great reward is kept for you in heaven. This is how the prophets who lived before you were persecuted.

Not Peace, but a Sword

Matthew 10:34-36 Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the world. No, I did not come to bring peace, but the sword.

I came to set sons against their fathers, daughters against their mothers, daughters-in -law against their mothers-in-law;

your worst enemies will be the members of your own family.

Matthew 19:28-30 Jesus said to them, " You can be sure that when the Son of  Man sits on his glorious throne in the New Age, then you twelve followers of mine will also sit on thrones, to rule the twelve tribes of Israel.

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake, will receive a hundred times more and will be given eternal life.

But many who now are first will be last, and many who now are last will be first.

Luke 14:26-27 Those who come to me cannot be my disciples unless they love me more than they love father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and themselves as well.

Those who do not carry their own cross and come after me cannot be my disciples.

Romans 12:14-21 Ask God to bless those who persecute you--yes, ask him to bless, not to curse.

Be happy with those who are happy, weep with those who weep.

Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise.

If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong. Try to do what everyone considers to be good.

Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody.

Never take a revenge, my friends, but instead let God's anger do it, For the scripture says " I will take revenge, I will pay back, says the Lord."

Instead, as the scripture says" If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty give them a drink; for by doing this you will make them burn with shame."

Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good.

1 Corinthians 7:5 Do not deny yourselves to each other, unless you first agree to do so for a while in order to spend your time in prayer, but then resume normal marital relations. In this way you will be kept from giving in to Satan's temptation because of your lack of self-control
