Matthew 17:10-13 And his disciples questioned him, saying,

"Why then do the scribes say that it is necessary for Elijah to arrive first?"
Answer in the Bible
But in response, he said to them: "Elijah, indeed, shall arrive and restore all things.
But I say to you, that Elijah has already arrived, and they did not recognize him, but they did whatever they wanted to him. So also shall the Son of man suffer from them."
Then the disciples understood that he had spoken to them about John the Baptist.
Malachi 4:5-6 Behold, I will send to you Elijah the prophet, before the arrival of the great and terrible day of the Lord.
And he will turn the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with anathema.
Matthew 11:11-15 Amen I say to you, among those born of women, there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
But from the days of John the Baptist, even until now, the kingdom of heaven has endured violence, and the violent carry it away.
For all the prophets and the law prophesied, even until John.
And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah, who is to come.
Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.
