Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 30+ WFT

David's Mourning for Abner

2 Samuel 3:31-32 Then David said to Joab and to all the people who were with him, Tear your clothes, gird yourselves with sackcloth, and mourn for Abner. And King David followed the coffin.

So they buried Abner in Hebron; and the king lifted up his voice and wept at the grave of Abner, and all the people wept.

David, Bathsheba, and Uriah

2 Samuel 11:1 It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when Kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.

2 Kings 3:25 Then they destroyed the cities, and each man threw a stone on every good piece of land and filled it; and they stopped up all the springs of water and cut down all the good trees. But they left the stones of Kir Haraseth intact. However the slingers surrounded and attacked it.

2 Kings 7:15 And they went after them to the Jordan; and indeed all the road was full of garments and weapons which the Syrians had thrown away in their haste. So the messengers returned and told the king.

Lamentations 3:37-39 Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, When the Lord has not commanded it?

Is it not from the mouth of the Most High That woe and well-being proceed?

Why should a living man complain, A man for the punishment of his sins?

Job 14:5 Since his days are determined, The number of his months is with you; You have appointed his limits, so that he cannot pass.

Proverbs 15:23 A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!

Proverbs 25:11-12 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver.

Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold Is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.

Isaiah 2:20-21 In that day man will cast away his idols of silver And his idols of gold, Which they made, each for himself to worship, To the moles and bats.

To go into the crags of the rugged rocks, From the terror of the LORD And the glory of His majesty, When He arises to shake the earth mightily.

Jonah 1:5 Then the mariners were afraid; and every man cried out to his god, and they threw the cargo that was in the ship into the sea, to lighten the load. But Jonah had gone down into the lowest pars of the ship, had lain down, and was fast asleep.

Amos 5:12-17 For I know your manifold transgressions And your mighty sins; Afflicting the just and taking bribes; Diverting the poor from justice at the gate.

Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time.

Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the LORD God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken.

Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the LORD God of hosts Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph

The Day of the LORD

Therefore the LORD God of hosts, the Lord, says this: "There shall be wailing in all streets, And they shall say in all the highways, Alas! Alas! They shall call the farmer to mourning, And skilled lamenters to wailing.

In all vineyards there shall be wailing, For I will pass through you." Says the LORD.
