Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 30+ CR NIV
David and Bathsheba
2 Samuel 11:1 In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king's men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.
2 Kings 3:25 They destroyed the towns, and each man threw a stone on every good field until it was covered. They stopped up all the springs and cut down every good tree. Only Kir Hareseth was left with its stone in place, but men armed with slings surrounded it and attacked it.
2 Kings 7:15 They followed them as far as the Jordan, and they found the whole road strewn with the clothing and equipment the Arameans had thrown away in the headlong flight. So the messengers returned and reported to the king.
Lamentations 3:37-39 Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?
Is it not form the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come?
Why should the living complain when punished for their sins?
Job 14:5 A person's days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.
Proverbs 15:23 A person finds joy in giving an apt reply--and how good is a timely word!
Proverbs 25:11-12 Like apples of gold in setting of silver is a ruling rightly given.
Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold, is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.
Isaiah 2:20-21 In that day people will throw away to the moles and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.
They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from the fearful presence of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty when he rises to shake the earth.
Jonah 1:5 All the sailors were afraid and each cried out to his own god. And they threw the cargo into the sea to lighten the ship. But Jonah had gone below deck, where he lay down and fell into a deep sleep,
Amos 5:12-17 For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. There are those who oppress the innocent and take bribes and deprive the poor of justice in courts.
Therefore the prudent keep quiet in such times for the times are evil.
Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.
Hate evil, love good, maintain justice in courts. Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph,
Therefore this is what the Lord, the Lord God Almighty, says: "There will be wailing in all the streets and cries of anguish in every public square. The farmers will be summoned to weep and the mourners to wail. There will be wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass through your midst" says the Lord.

Hosea 6:1 "Come, let us return to the LORD, He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.
Joel 2:15-17 Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly.
Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast, Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber.
Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say, "Spare your people, Lord. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, 'Where is their God?'"
The Beatitudes
Matthew 5:3-12 He said: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
