Do Not Forget What God Has Done

Scripture

Deuteronomy 4:9 (NKJV)
Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren.


Remember and Pass It On

In this verse, Moses urges Israel to guard their hearts and remember everything God had done for them—the miracles, the deliverance from Egypt, the provision in the wilderness, and the giving of His law. Forgetting God’s works would lead to drifting away from Him. Remembering would keep their hearts anchored in faith.

Moses also instructs them to teach these truths to their children and grandchildren. Faith is not meant to be kept silent—it is to be passed down. When the next generation knows what God has done, they are strengthened to follow Him with confidence and courage.

For believers today, this verse is a powerful call to remember and to teach. We must intentionally recall God’s goodness, rehearse His faithfulness, and share His works with those who come after us. Forgetfulness weakens faith. Remembrance strengthens it.

Prayer

Lord God, help me to remember Your goodness and keep Your works close to my heart. Remind me daily of the ways You have guided, protected, and provided for me. Give me the boldness to share these truths with others, especially the next generation. In Jesus name, Amen.
