WE WERE MISLED, BECAUSE WE DIDN’T STUDY FOR OURSELVES.
Many today believe that the Ten Commandments no longer apply because they were part of the Old Testament. But this belief is not only mistaken, it is dangerous. The truth is that all Ten Commandments are affirmed and upheld in the New Testament. We were misled because we didn’t take the time to search the Scriptures for ourselves.
Here’s clear evidence that the Ten Commandments are still binding under the New Covenant:
1. WORSHIP GOD ALONE
“You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.” Matthew 4:10
(See also 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 Timothy 2:5)
2. DO NOT WORSHIP IDOLS
“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” 1 John 5:21
“We ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising.” Acts 17:29
3. HONOR GOD'S NAME
“That the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed.” 1 Timothy 6:1
4. REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY
“For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: ‘And God rested on the seventh day from all His works.’… There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.” Hebrews 4:4, 9–10
5. HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER
“Honor your father and your mother.” Matthew 19:19
(See also Ephesians 6:1–2)
6. DO NOT MURDER
“You shall not murder.” Romans 13:9
(See also 1 Peter 4:15)
7. DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY
“You shall not commit adultery.” Matthew 19:18 (See also 1 Corinthians 6:9–10)
8. DO NOT STEAL
“You shall not steal.” Romans 13:9
(See also Ephesians 4:28)
9. DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS
“You shall not bear false witness.” Romans 13:9 (See also Revelation 21:8)
10. DO NOT COVET
“I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, ‘You shall not covet.’” Romans 7:7
(See also Colossians 3:5)
THE APOSTLE PAUL MAKES IT CLEAR:
“Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.” Romans 3:31
Don’t just accept what you’ve been told. Search the Scriptures. The moral law of God is still in effect and it matters.
[James 2:10] "For whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles in one point, he is guilty of all". The passage explains that breaking even one of God's laws makes a person guilty of breaking all of them, because the one who gave the law is the same for all commands.
[Revelation 22:14-16]
[14] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
[15] For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
[16] I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
