1 Chronicles 2:9-17 NKJV
1 Chronicles 2:9-17 Also the sons of Hezron who were born to him were Jerahmeel, Ram, and Chelubai.
Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, leader of the children of Judah;
Nahshon begot Salma, and Salma begot Boaz;
Boaz begot Obed, and Obed begot Jesse;
Jesse begot Eliab his firstborn, Abinadab the second, Shimea the third,
Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth,
Ozem the sixth, and David the seventh.
Now their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel--three.
Abigail bore Amasa; and the father of Amasa was Jether the Ishmaelite.
Matthew 1:3-6 Judah begot Perez, and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.
Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon.
Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse,
and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who has been the wife of Uriah.
Luke 3:31-33 the son of Melea, the son of Menan, the son of Mattathah, the son of Nathan, the son of David,
the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, the son of Nahshon,
the son of Amminadab, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,
1 Samuel 16:6-13 So it was, when they came, that he looked at Eliab and said, "Surely the LORD'S anointed is before Him!"
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
So Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, "Neither has the LORD chosen this one."
Then Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, "Neither has the LORD chosen this one."
Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, "The LORD has not chosen these."
And Samuel said to Jesse, "Are all the young men here?" Then he said, "There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep." And Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here."
So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the LORD said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!"
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and and went to Ramah.
1 Samuel 17:12-19 Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem Judah, whose name was Jesse, and whom had eight sons. And the man was old, advanced in years, in the days of Saul.
The three oldest sons of Jesse had gone to follow Saul to the battle. The names of his three sons who went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, next to him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.
David was the youngest. And the three oldest followed Saul.
But David occasionally went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem.
And the Philistine drew near and presented himself forty days, morning and evening.
Then Jesse said to his son David, "Take now for you brothers an ephah of this dried grain and these ten loaves, and run to your brothers at the camp.
"And carry these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand, and see how your brothers fare, and bring back news of them."
Now Saul and they and all the men of Israel were in the Valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.
2 Samuel 2:18-23 Now the three sons of Zeruiah were there; Joab and Abishai and Asahel. And Asahel was as fleet of foot as a wild gazelle.
So Asahel pursued Abner, and in going he did not turn to the right hand or to the left from following Abner.
Then Abner looked behind him and said, "Are you Asahel? He answered, "I am."
And Abner said to him, "Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and lay hold on one of the young men and take his armor for yourself." But Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
So Abner said again to Asahel, "Turn aside from following me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How then could I face your brother Joab?"
However, he refused to turn aside. Therefore Abner struck him in the stomach with the blunt end of the spear, so that the spear came out of his back; and he fell down there and died on the spot. So it was that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died, stood still.
