Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

After battling on our own for two weeks, yesterday we decided to go ahead and go to the doctor for their magic cough medicine. The over-the-counter stuff just was not cutting it. In true husband form, we walked out with a bronchitis diagnosis and the magic cough medicine. Last night was a good sleep night. Rest is what his body truly needs. Though he still has the cough, his voice sounds better from the sleep.

Last night, while watching television, I watched a show where the hero was drugged and tortured and while in his altered state, his memories and dreams were changed. Where in reality his father had been killed, in the drug-induced state, his dad was saved. The show really got me to thinking about how the enemy uses different aspects of our lives to target certain areas for the response that he wants.

If our lives were filled with broken promises or smoke screens, then every good thing that happens to us brings on the added ‘other shoe’ waiting for it to drop. Everything has a catch. Nothing is real. Therefore, we talk ourselves into self-preservation and build a wall so that we are not hurt again. In this protection mode, we tend to miss out on the joy of what is right in front of us.

The enemy likes to linger about, especially this time of year, plugging little thoughts of despair or failure in our minds. They do not have to be actual situations, just potential scenarios that MIGHT happen. The ‘might’ triggers a ‘maybe’ and then a ‘what if’ and the list goes on until we lose sight of the goodness and only see the potential of bad. This has happened to me more times than I can count and each time I tell myself that I won't fall for it again. Sometimes I don’t, but when I do, I do.

As we are now deep into the season of giving, take a few moments today and give thanks for the blessings in your life. Give glory to the One who has sustained you. Praise the name of Jesus for all your encounters. Take in the Goodness of the Father and build that wall to block the darkness from entering. Make today a day the enemy remembers that you are not an easy target.

Be blessed today my friends.

***Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. –Romans 5:1-2
