Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Have you ever noticed that some of your favorite shows or movies are the worst-acted ones? Yesterday, when I got home, my husband was watching an old Chuck Norris police movie. I got in at the tail end of the movie, however, in one scene where his partner was ‘startled’, well, let's just say that scene probably should have been cut or redone. It was a bit silly to me. However, at the time of the movie, it was considered good acting. We followed up our evening entertainment with an old episode of Daniel Boone. The acting in that, where not quite as bad as that movie, still … not very realistic. The message was clear, and the concept for the theme was thought out; however, to put a realistic tone to it (according to what I know now) was pretty far-fetched.

Though the acting in the older shows is not very realistic, I wonder if they were made that way on purpose? To ensure that the make-believe world and the real world were kept separate. An attempt to provide ‘entertainment’ but not a view to the inside aspect of life. Kind of like losing yourself inside a book. To let our imaginations come to life.

Over the course of the years, the entertainment industry has gone from silly romantic musicals like Grease to down and dirty explicit scenes in Fifty Shades of Grey. We have gone from being able to shoot a Law from the cockpit of a helicopter (rocket launcher scene in Rambo) to graphic scenes of Saving Private Ryan. The thought of a stay-at-home mom, as in most early television (Waltons, Little House, Leave it to Beaver), to single-parent homes.

Where reality is seemingly good entertainment, it has done a detriment to our society. What God intended for good, the enemy has turned to evil. God set boundaries for the industry with limits on what was allowed, guidelines for good wholesome entertainment; however, over the course of the years, the enemy has taken those boundaries and pushed on them a little at a time. Stretching them to where they are now … nearly non-existent. Anything and everything are permissible…just put a warning label on it.

Video games went from block pixels to gory and graphic explosions of death. Then the ability to ‘respawn’ and keep going. Thus, taking away the reality of what death truly is. The end. Again, video games were a source of entertainment meant for days when outside play was not possible. Allowing our imaginations to be seen and explored.

Just as what God intended for good, the enemy has twisted to the dark arena; God also takes what the enemy meant for evil and turns it for good. Covid closed church buildings but opened family unit churches. The political arena, whichever side you are on, has gotten two generations now watching the outcome of what is going on and discussing it. Social media, I believe, is the tennis ball child. Started as good, went bad, but some areas have returned to the good.

Wherever you stand on this topic, know that it is a cycle of events that is open for choice. Whatever your position is on current events, know that it is going in the direction it is supposed to. The common theme is ‘if there is a God, why”. Just as those who came before us failed to listen to Him in the beginning and did their own thing by listening to the golden calf, we, too, are in a season of rebellion. The enemy gives us nuggets to chew on based on our concept of common sense. Or what we believe to be common sense.

Today I encourage you to take a moment and look at the scenes around you. Apply the Word screen over the scenario and look for where the Word applies and where the enemy lies. Your vision could be clouded by personal emotions/experiences; however, if you simply use God as your compass, you will see that all things that are happening are in accordance with His plan. Do not be dismayed or lose faith. He is in control. Stand firm and press on to the prize.

Be blessed today my friends.
