*BETWEEN THE MESSENGER AND HIS MESSAGE* 🫵🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽

```TEXT:JOB 33:8-13```
```KEY VERSE:``` _*"Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters" (JOB 33:13).*_

*At different times in the contemporary history of an African country, an influential man was tasked with writing 'open' letters in the newspapers to address hot-button national issues. The elder statesman would mail his messages to the editors of the national newspapers, who never fail to give his message urgent attention. There would follow a torrent of reactions in opinion pieces, editorials, news features, and other forms of commentary. But his critics would dampen enthusiasm by calling into question the man's shady past and claiming he was not qualified to speak about others' failures. In other words, they could do without the message because of the 'questionable' past deeds of the source of the message.*

*Given Elihu's pride in arrogating the role of God's spokesman in Job 33:6, we may be tempted to dismiss his message for Job. The messenger's credentials disqualify his message. But what he says is universally incontrovertible and upheld by the Scriptures. You cannot fault God over His deeds. Man cannot resist the Creator. It is wrong for Job to count the Lord as his enemy because of his deprivations and losses. Job is also incorrect in being his judge and giving himself a pass mark: "I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me."*

*The point is that since "The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein," the Lord reserves the absolute right to use anyone, their perceived flaws notwithstanding, to deliver His flawless message. He can even use animals, as He did with the ass, to discipline Balaam. He sent a big fish to correct an erring prophet.*

*We must watch against discarding consequential messages simply because of our biased views about their source. We must examine and weigh their presentations in light of the Lord's word. He employed a heathen king, Nebuchadnezzar, when the Lord wanted to judge Judah through Babylonian captivity and God calls him, "my servant."*
