SHOULD WE NOW PREACH POVERTY? (PART 1).
Zechariah 1:17 (KJV)..... Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
If you are a Christian and a follower of Christ, you will notice that there has been a battle raging in our land for some time now on the subject of prosperity. Some so-called men of God are after people who teach and believe that the gospel that we were commanded to carry in it has some fruits of blessing, which is called prosperity.
These men are after any preacher who openly declares that it is God's will for his people to prosper. They tag such people as "prosperity preachers". Now, I don't even know what we should call these people. If we are to call them "poverty preachers" because we only have two fences to this truth, it is either you believe in prosperity or you believe in poverty.
It is true that there is no such thing as the prosperity gospel or preachers, but this is what these men have decided to call people like us, and in their hearts, they believe we are not true men of God simply because we preach that if a man believes in this Jesus, that he (Jesus) has the power to make him or her prosper.
They said such messages are wrong, but my question now is this: should we now preach poverty? Should we say what the Bible didn't say because of the fear of men? Are we now called men of God? It is time to stand up in defence of the gospel. Amen.
Prayer:
Lord, we cry for your help and we pray that you strengthen your saint in this last day to stand for the truth. Amen.
Bible Reference: 3 John 1:1-3, Acts 4:1-26.
Wisdom Capsule:
Proverbs 2:21 (MSG)...... It’s the men who walk straight who will settle this land, the women with integrity who will last here.
