THE CONTRADICTION OF SINNERS.
Hebrews 12:3 (KJV).... For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
Today, I would like to talk to us about what the Spirit, through the writings of Paul the Apostle, called 'the contradiction of sinners'. You may ask: What does this mean?
The word "contradiction" is from the Greek word "Antilogia", and this word in English means a dispute, disobedience, strife, or gainsaying. This word 'contradiction' occurs twice in the whole of the New Testament, and it was only used by Paul the Apostle.
An example is in Hebrews 7:7 (KJV)..... And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
So, when he spoke of the contradiction of sinners, he meant you experiencing something contrary to what you would expect. It means that when you find yourself going through difficulties or challenges and even sinners who don’t know God are asking you questions at that time, you are to check and recheck what you truly believe.
Hebrews 12:3 (MSG)..... When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!
The assurance you come out with in this critical moment of your life using the word of God becomes your victory medicine. Practise that today.
Prayer:
Lord, I am grateful for your word. I thank you for the faith it has brought to my spirit today and because of this, I sing for joy over my situation. Amen.
Bible Reference: 2 Corinthians 5:1-19 (AMP).
Wisdom Capsule:
Proverbs 18:1 (MSG).... Loners who care only for themselves spit on the common good.
