THE GIFT OF ENCOURAGEMENT.
Romans 12:6, 8 (KJV)...... Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
8). or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Aside from the nine gifts of the Spirit listed by Paul the Apostle in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 (KJV), which I call major spiritual gifts, there are other minor ones that he also listed but are not found in 1 Corinthians 12. These are the ones he listed for us in our theme scripture. They might sound minor to some people, but they are also very important to God and for the building of believers in the church of Jesus Christ.
One of them is the gift of Exhortation . Do you know what this gift is all about? The gift is called the gift of Encouragement.
Romans 12:8 (NLT)......
If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
Can you see that the gift exists? If it were not important or needed, God wouldn't have put it there. And the reason for this gift is because there will be days you will feel like giving up, but with people like this and with this gift, you are fired up to finish your assignment.
When David was going through a tough time and he could not find anyone with this gift, the Bible tells us that he encouraged himself in the Lord. There are many ways you can do this today: by calling, sending SMS, speaking nicely to people, offering little gifts or lending a helping hand, etc. Find the best possible way to carry out your gift of encouragement, and make sure you do it wholeheartedly. Be wise.
Prayer:
I am strengthened by the Lord to strengthen others and I thank you for helping me Lord.
Bible Reference: 1 Samuel 30:1-31.
Wisdom Capsule:
Proverbs 18:2 (MSG).... .Fools care nothing for thoughtful discourse; all they do is run off at the mouth.
