THE POWER OF GIVING YOURSELF OVER.
Acts 6:3-4 (KJV)..... Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4). But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
Did you notice that Peter the Apostle spoke of giving themselves over to two important things that make for a life of success in ministry, in the kingdom life in general?
He said, 'But we will give ourselves continually.' He wasn't going to wait until they were moved or inspired by God to do it, but they were going to discipline themselves to such a task.
The art of giving oneself over is the art of personal, self donation to a cause for a purpose. A lot of times, we see believers who will tell you that they don't pray or study the Bible or fast or go out for soul winning because they were not moved to do it.
Here, the Apostle is not talking about what you are moved to do but what you commit yourself through discipline to do. Your success in this kingdom is proportional to the degree of how much you give yourself over to prayer and the study of God's word.
Stop lazing about; give yourself to prayer and the word. Devote yourself to this art and see God move in your life because discipline is part of the work of grace. Hallelujah.
Prayer:
It is by your mercy that i live and function daily. Therefore, I ask for more of it in my life today in Jesus name. Amen.
Bible Reference: Mathew 6:1-16, Mathew 4:1-4.
Wisdom Capsule:
Proverbs 18:3 (MSG)..... When wickedness arrives, shame’s not far behind; contempt for life is contemptible.
