Romans 15:1-7 Exploring GNT

Please others, Not Yourselves

Romans 15:1-7 We who are strong in the faith ought to help the weak to carry their burdens. We should not please ourselves.

Instead, we should all please other believers for their own good, in order to build them up in the faith.

For Christ did not please himself. Instead, as the scripture says, "The insults which are hurled at you have fallen of me,"

Everything written in the Scriptures was written to teach us, in order that we might have hope through the patience and encouragement which the Scriptures give us.

And may God, the source of patience and encouragement, enable you to have the same point of view among yourselves by following the example of Christ Jesus,

so that all of you together may praise with one voice the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Gospel to the Gentiles
Accept one another, then, for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.

Bear one another's Burdens

Galatians 6:1-2 My friends, if someone is caught in any kind of wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should set him right; but you must do it in a gentle way. And keep an eye on yourselves, so that you will not be tempted too.

Help carry one another's burdens, and in this way you will obey the law of Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 We urge you, our friends, to warn the idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 I am a free man, nobody's slave, but I make myself everybody's slave in order to win as many people as possible.

While working with the Jews, I live like a Jew in order to win them; and even though I myself am not subject to the Law of Moses. I live as though I were when working with those who are, in order to win them.

In the same way, when working with Gentiles, I live like a Gentile, outside the Jewish Law, in order to win Gentiles. This does not mean that I don't obey God's law, I am really under Christ's law.

Among the weak in faith I became weak like one of them, in order to win them. So I become all things to all people, that I may save some of them by whatever means are possible.

All this I do for the gospel's sake, in order to share in its blessings.

1 Corinthians 10:11 All these things happen to them as examples for others, and they were written down as a warning for us. For we live at a time when the end is about to come.

2 Corinthians 13:9 We are glad when we are weak but you are strong. And so we also pray that you will become perfect.

Psalm 68:8-9 the earth shook, and the sky poured down rain, because of the coming of the God of Sinai, the coming of the God of Israel.

You caused abundant rain to fall and restored your worn-out land;

Christ's Humility and Greatness

Philippians 2:1-2 Your life in Christ makes you strong, and his love comforts you. You have fellowship with the Sprit, and you have kindness and compassion for one another.

I urge you, then, to make me completely happy by having the same thoughts, sharing the same love, and being one  in soul and mind.

Right with God

Romans 5:1-2 Now that we have been put right with God through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

He ahs brought us by faith into this experience of God's grace, in which we now live. And so we boast of the hope we have of sharing God's glory!

Do Not Judge Others

Romans 14:1-3 Welcome those who are weak in faith, but do not argue with them about their personal opinions.

Some people's faith allows them to eat anything, but the person who is weak in the faith eats only vegetables.

The person who will eat anything is not to despise the one who doesn't; while the one who eats only vegetables is not to pass judgement on the one who will eat anything, for God has accepted that person.
