On the night before his assassination, Martin Luther King Jr spoke these prophetic words: “Like anybody, I would like to live a long life—longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will…. And so I’m happy tonight; I’m not worried about anything; I’m not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord”
Did Martin Luther King Jr. see his own death beforehand? It's hard to know, but God brought him to a place where he could say "I'm not fearing any man". Perhaps he knew his life was in danger, but God gave him a vision, his "eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord" he says. He saw himself as part of a much larger picture, - one with Jesus in it - he saw the glory of the coming of the Lord, death was no longer to be feared.
When Paul says "If God is for us, who can be against us" he is not saying people will never cause us grief or sorrow, but that in light eternity, what else could matter? It doesn't matter if the world comes against, you, nothing will be able to separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus - "God is for you". Hebrews 13:6 says: So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?" It is "with confidence" that we know God will ultimately triumph over any evil that man can devise against us. Matthew 10:28 reminds us: "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Like Martin Luther King Jr. we do not need to fear any man, no man can kill the soul. In light of eternity, nothing any person can do to us will have any lasting effect.
If you're a Christian, no one can take away your spiritual inheritance. No one can separate you from His love. Paul, who experienced so many trials and tribulations in this world said, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39). What matters in the end, is your personal relationship with God, no one can take that away from you! When "God is for you", you have all the arsenal of heaven on your side. Nothing can destroy God's plan for your life.
