Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

My apologies for being later than normal. I really needed the extra sleep today. Yesterday was quite the adventure. It started with a wake-up text from one of my rural carriers, too sick to work. This knowledge, along with the only sub driver I had, does not typically answer his phone. Most of my quiet time in the morning was spent processing how to cover this route. Fortunately, my sub did answer and that route was covered. However, on my way to pick up the sub (he needed a ride), I got a text from a neighboring office that the help they were sending us, called in sick. I laughed. Very loudly in my car. By the time we got to the office, I was advised that the truck was late again and all three clerks were running around as quickly as possible to get the mail done. City carriers had noticed the route that was empty and were worried. I quickly advised them that I was working on a plan. That our help had called out sick. As the clerks finished the mail, one of them, who is actually one of my tiny towns, got a call from the school and had to go pick up her sick daughter; therefore would not be able to finish her shift. Now I have an open office to cover as well. All the while, I truly was laughing inside. Thoughts and ideas quickly passing through my squirrel set brain and running them past my boss. All three areas are run off of three different contracts, and let's just say I am glad paper bends. In the end, everything got covered, and I was out of the office by 5:30 or so. When I walked in, I was sure I would be there til 7. A very successful day.

Needless to say, I was exhausted when I got home. My body ached from helping carry a route and the mental strain for having to think so much. However, I did sleep quite well and that is why I am a bit tardy this morning. It would not be so bad, except I am not walking like I used to and my legs are asking me if I have lost my mind. Haha.

Many times in life, we are dealt with a never-ending mudslide of circumstances that have no direct resolution, but a creative workaround. Just as yesterday did. I do not have the staff to just plug holes. I am bound by the contracts. Hours must be allocated correctly, or people can get paid for not working. A relationship with your staff is imperative to ensure that a ruckus like yesterday is a victory in the end. The enemy throws out chaos like M & Ms at a Weight Watchers meeting and enjoys the calamity. Yes, I was flustered and a few moments were not my finest; however, I believe that my frustration was seen, for the most part, as an understanding of how the employees felt, not a direct hit at them. I believe that this standing is completely because of my faith and walk with Him. Because, let me tell you, there was a lot of screaming going on inside my squirrel-soaked brain; however, not once did I raise my voice. I listened. I processed. I made decisions. And we all got home safely. At one point during the day, I challenged one of the city carriers to a race. (She beat me. Haha)

When the enemy decides that you are a threat, he hits like rapid fire from a machine gun. You know, the never-ending belts of bullets. That is when you know you are on the right path with God. You are reaching people and the enemy does not like it. So, he reaches into his bag of tricks and tries to lure you to your old self and cause you to doubt. The best thing you can do … laugh. Breathe. March on. Maintaining his head beneath your feet.

Be blessed today my friends.
