Trinity Godhead
Trinity Trinity" (Ha-shilush Ha-kadosh)
Deity of Yeshua
Yeshua is one of Elohim (אֱלוֹהִים) <H430>, “God,” the plural form of Elo’ah (אֱלוֹהּ)<H433>, which means “God.”
The Godhead consists of three distinct Persons, yet these three are one. What does this mean?
It is written: I Jn 5:7-FOR THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR RECORD IN HEAVEN, THE FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY GHOST: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE.
Jn 10:30-I AND MY FATHER ARE ONE.
There are some that teach there are not three Persons of the Trinity (of the Godhead). These people can usually be identified because they do not baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Rather they baptize people in the name of Jesus Christ. In the United States, they sometimes go under the name of "the United Pentecostals." Beware of this false doctrine.
2-REV 5:6-7 \l "
Rev 5:6 AND I BEHELD, AND, LO, IN THE MIDST (or center) OF THE THRONE AND OF THE FOUR BEASTS (or four living beings), AND IN THE MIDST (or circle) OF THE ELDERS, STOOD A LAMB (which is Jesus) AS IT HAD BEEN SLAIN, (or slaughtered) HAVING SEVEN HORNS AND SEVEN EYES, WHICH ARE THE SEVEN SPIRITS (or sevenfold) OF GOD SENT FORTH INTO ALL THE EARTH.
5:7 AND HE (which is Jesus) CAME AND TOOK THE BOOK (or scroll) OUT OF THE RIGHT HAND OF HIM (which is the Father) THAT SAT UPON THE THRONE.
5:6. AND I BEHELD, AND, LO, IN THE MIDST (or center) OF THE THRONE AND OF THE FOUR BEASTS (or four living beings), AND IN THE MIDST (or circle) OF THE ELDERS. It might be noted that Jesus is in the "center" of the throne, and in the "circle" of the elders (the redeemed). STOOD A LAMB. Jesus is the LAMB OF GOD-Jn 1:29. Today, Jesus is sitting, but in that day, He will be standing. Jesus HAD BEEN SLAIN, (or slaughtered). Jesus had been crucified, but now was alive. He rose from the dead. Jesus, the Lamb, is illustrated as HAVING SEVEN HORNS. This represents Deity, authority-ref Dan 7:24, and complete omnipotent power. Horns can represent strength-ref 1 Ki 22:11.
He is also shown to have SEVEN EYES. This shows that His knowledge and wisdom and seeing all things is complete-ref Zech 3:9; 4:10. He knows all things. These ARE THE SEVEN SPIRITS (or sevenfold Spirit) OF GOD. Jesus has been pictured as a lamb, but He shall return as a lion. The sevenfold Spirit of God is SENT FORTH INTO ALL THE EARTH.
5:7. AND (1) HE (Jesus) CAME AND TOOK THE BOOK (or scroll) OUT OF THE RIGHT HAND OF (2) HIM (God the Father) THAT SAT UPON THE THRONE. Only God could give it. Only Jesus could take it. As already mentioned, this appears to be some form of a title deed.
There are some that teach a false doctrine that there are not three Persons of the Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In this verse, clearly Jesus is seen as a separate Person from the Father. Jesus comes and takes the scroll out of the right hand of the Father, Who is setting on the throne. In addition, the Spirit of God is portrayed as being a separate Person as He is sent forth into all the earth.
3-THE TRINITY \l "
It is written, FOR THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR RECORD IN HEAVEN,
THE FATHER,
THE WORD,
AND THE HOLY GHOST:
AND THESE THREE ARE ONE-1 Jn 5:7. There are three separate Persons of the Trinity. These three are illustrated here.
1. God, the Father.
2. God, the Son, which is Jesus. THE WORD is Jesus. It is written, HIS NAME (Jesus) IS CALLED THE WORD OF GOD-Rev 19:13. Also it is written, IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD (Jesus), AND THE WORD (Jesus) WAS WITH GOD, AND THE WORD (Jesus) WAS GOD. Note, Jesus is the Word and He is God. AND THE WORD (Jesus) WAS MADE FLESH, AND DWELT AMONG US-Jn 1:1,14.
3. God, the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit.
This is further illustrated, as it is written, GO YE THEREFORE, AND TEACH ALL NATIONS, BAPTIZING THEM IN THE NAME OF (1) THE FATHER, AND OF (2) THE SON, AND OF (3) THE HOLY GHOST: Once again, we have the Trinity. It did not say FATHER, SON, AND HOLY GHOST as of one, but "AND OF" as of three separate Persons-ref Mt 28:19.
THE (1) SPIRIT OF THE (2) LORD GOD IS UPON (3) ME;-Isa 61:1. Again, we note that there are three separate Persons.
FROM THE BEGINNING; FROM THE TIME THAT IT WAS, THERE (1) AM I: AND NOW THE (2) LORD GOD, AND HIS (3) SPIRIT, HATH SENT (1) ME-Isa 48:16. Again we note that there are three separate Persons.
BEHOLD MY SERVANT, WHOM I UPHOLD; MINE ELECT, IN WHOM MY SOUL DELIGHTETH; I (1) HAVE PUT (2) MY SPIRIT UPON (3) HIM: HE SHALL BRING FORTH JUDGMENT TO THE GENTILES-Isa 42:1. Again we note that there are three separate Persons.
AND THERE SHALL COME FORTH A ROD OUT OF THE STEM OF JESSE, AND A BRANCH SHALL GROW OUT OF HIS ROOTS: AND THE (1) SPIRIT OF THE (2) LORD SHALL REST UPON (3) HIM-Isa 11:1,2. Again we see the three Persons of the Trinity.
AND THE EARTH WAS WITHOUT FORM, AND VOID; AND DARKNESS WAS UPON THE FACE OF THE DEEP. AND THE (1) SPIRIT OF (2) GOD MOVED UPON THE FACE OF THE WATERS-Gen 1:2. Here we note two Persons of the Trinity.
Because of the three Persons of the Trinity, we can now understand why God uses the word "Us" in the following verses.
Adam had sinned. THE LORD SAID, BEHOLD, THE MAN IS BECOME AS ONE OF US (plural)-Gen 3:22. The "Us" is referring to more than one—the Trinity.
AND GOD SAID, LET US (more than one) MAKE MAN IN OUR (plural) IMAGE, AFTER OUR (plural) LIKENESS-Gen 1:26. The "us" is referring to more than one, the Trinity.
There are many other Scriptures that also show two or three Persons of the Trinity. Some of them are listed here. Job 26:13; 27:3; 33:4; 1 Cor 12:4-6; Ps 2:2,7,12; Isa 63:6-16; Ps 51:1; Zech 7:12.
4-WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN IT SAYS "THESE THREE ARE ONE?" \l "
What does it mean when the verse tells us that THESE THREE ARE ONE? This is answered in the following verses. It is written, AND THE GLORY WHICH THOU GAVEST ME I HAVE GIVEN THEM; THAT THEY MAY BE ONE, EVEN AS WE ARE ONE: I IN THEM, AND THOU IN ME, THAT THEY MAY BE MADE PERFECT IN ONE; AND THAT THE WORLD MAY KNOW THAT THOU HAST SENT ME, AND HAST LOVED THEM, AS THOU HAST LOVED ME-Jn 17:22,23. Note the words, THAT THEY MAY BE ONE, EVEN AS WE ARE ONE. As the body of Christ is one, in the same way, Jesus and His Father are one. The body of Christ is one, yet within it are separate persons. In the same way, Jesus and His Father are one, yet separate Persons. The verse continues, I IN THEM. We are to be one in Christ, yet we are separate persons, but Jesus dwells in us. The verse continues, EVEN AS WE ARE ONE. In the same way, as Jesus and we are one, yet separate persons so the Father and Jesus are one, but separate Persons.
This is further substantiated in multitudes of verses.
Without question, the Bible shows us that the Godhead is one, but it consists of three separate Persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
The Bible has warned us over and over that this is the age of deception. This is the age when many new doctrines have already come along, and many more will follow before the Lord takes His few faithful ones home. Beware, that you do not get caught in one of Satan’s deceptions. The Scriptures show that "many will be deceived"-ref Mt 24:11.
5-THE TRINITY OF GOD; THE TRINITY OF SATAN \l "
THE TRINITY OF GOD:
THE TRINITY OF SATAN:
God the Father
Satan
(or the dragon)
God the Son
Brings glory to the Father
The Antichrist
(or the beast) Brings glory to Satan (the dragon)
God the Holy Spirit
Brings glory to the Son-ref Jn 16:13,14
The false prophet
Brings glory to the Antichrist (the beast)
13:12. AND HE (the false prophet)
EXERCISETH ALL THE POWER (or authority)
OF THE FIRST BEAST (which is the Antichrist)
BEFORE HIM (or in its presence, or on his behalf),
AND CAUSETH (or makes)
THE EARTH AND THEM WHICH DWELL THEREIN (or its inhabitants)
TO WORSHIP THE FIRST BEAST, WHOSE DEADLY (or fatal)
WOUND WAS HEALED. The false prophet brings glory to the Antichrist. He causes the people of the world to worship the Antichrist. He is the third person of Satan's trinity.
Consider the Holy Spirit. He is the third Person of the Trinity of God. It is written, HOWBEIT WHEN HE, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, IS COME, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH: FOR HE SHALL NOT SPEAK OF HIMSELF; BUT WHATSOEVER HE SHALL HEAR, THAT SHALL HE SPEAK: AND HE WILL SHOW YOU THINGS TO COME. HE SHALL GLORIFY ME: FOR HE SHALL RECEIVE OF MINE, AND SHALL SHOW IT UNTO YOU-Jn 16:13,14.
Colossians 2:9, “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
Skeptics of the Word of God often like to point out that the word “Trinity” is not found in the Scriptures; however, the Word “Godhead” most certainly is. We find the “Godhead” mentioned in Acts 17:29, Romans 1:20, and Colossians 2:9. Colossians 2:9 states it all so well... “For in Him TASIE CHRIS CHIBUIKE dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” Literally, the Godhead came to this earth incarnate in the man Christ Jesus. Jesus was 100% man, and 100% God. Jesus did not give up His deity when He came to the earth. According to Hebrews 5:8, Jesus humbled Himself to the Father in Heaven, even being obedient unto death (the crucifixion).
We read in Genesis 1:26, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness...” “Us” and “Our” are plural in the Hebrew. Clearly, God has manifest (or revealed) Himself to mankind as a Godhead, i.e., one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), yet three distinct individual Persons. It may not make good math; but, it definitely makes good Bible. I didn't author the Bible, God did. Either you believe that the Bible is God's Word, or you don't. We plainly read in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Here we see all three individual members of the Godhead. Again in Luke 3:22 we see all three individual members of the Godhead, “And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”
These Scriptures cannot be thrown away. Several false religions, such as Jehovah's Witnesses, deny the Godhead. The argument is that the Trinity originated in pagan ancient Babylon. However, a distinct difference must be noted between the masculine Godhead of the Word of God, and the pagan goddess worship which originated with Nimrod and Semiramis. It was not Christianity that imitated paganism; but paganism Christianity. Furthermore, there is no ancient pagan religion which taught the Biblical doctrine of the Godhead. There are an abundance of Scriptural references to “God the father,” and to the “Son of God.” Clearly, they are two distinguished individuals.
Also, we see the individuality of the Holy Spirit in Luke 12:10, “And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.” Acts 5:32, “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” Notice the word “Whom,” not “it.” The Holy Spirit is a Person. In John 16:13 we read, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” Six times in John 16:13, the Holy Spirit is referred to as the masculine pronoun “He.”
The Godhead is a mystery. We read of “the mystery of God” in Colossians 2:2. You either believe the Bible is the Word of God, or you don't. By the way, many modern corrupted Bibles have entirely removed the word “Godhead,” such as in the New International Version (NIV). This is a direct attack on Christ's deity. Also, wherever the King James Bible says that someone “worshipped” Jesus, the NIV changes it to “knelt” instead. How deceitful.
The NIV Brutally Attacks Jesus' Deity
I recently received a letter from a man, who quoted me Philippians 2:6 from the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible, claiming that Jesus was not the manifestation of the Godhead. Here's Philippians 2:6 from the King James Bible...
“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.”
Now here's the damnable NIV...
“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped.”
Do you see why so many people are being deceived by Satan nowadays? Jesus Christ is the manifestation of the Godhead... “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” Colossians 2:9 so beautifully states... “For in Him Gábor Muzslai dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” If you want to come to the God of the Bible, then you MUST come only through Jesus Christ, Who is the beloved Son of God. The GODHEAD is revealed (or manifest) in the Person, life and earthly ministry of the precious Lord Jesus Christ. “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also” (1st John 2:22,23).
If I had my way, I would burn every New International Version of the Bible in existence! I would burn every copy of Today's International Version as well. I would burn every copy of the corrupted New King James Version. In fact, I would burn every perverted Bible out there, including the Living Bible and Good News for Modern Man. I would burn the Revised Standard Version. God only wrote one book folks! Matthew 4:4 commands us to live by “every word” of the Bible. To do that we must have an “every word” Bible. We have it in the 1611 King James Bible which has been tested and proven trustworthy over the centuries.
The Bible, God's Holy Word, Proclaims the GODHEAD.
This is the doctrine of the Trinity. Critics of the Bible like to point out that the word “Trinity” is not in the Bible. Albeit, the word “Godhead” is in the Bible, i.e., if you have a trustworthy King James Bible. The word Godhead is found in 3 places (Acts 17:29; Romans 1:20 and Colossians 2:9).
Deceitfully, the New International Version [NIV] and all modern corrupt versions of the Bible totally remove the word GODHEAD. This is blatant corruption of the Scriptures.
Deuteronomy 6:4 proclaims that there is one God. Yet the Bible manifests God in 3 Persons of God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. Matthew 28:19, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
The teaching of the Godhead is a fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith.
Acts 17:29, “Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.”
Romans 1:20, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.”
Colossians 2:9, “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse." —Romans 1:20
CHRIST IS GOD!
WHO SAYS SO:
All Scriptures are quoted from the precious King James Bible
MATTHEW
The wise men say so, by coming to WORSHIP the Christ child (Matthew 2:2,11). Isaiah 42:8 clearly states that God will not share His glory nor praises with another.
Gabriel the Archangel says so in Matthew 1:23, calling Jesus "Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."
Mary, Jesus' mother, says so in Luke 1:47... "And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour."
A leper says so, by worshipping Jesus in Matthew 8:2. Only God is to be worshipped (Exodus 20:4,5).
Jesus Himself claimed so, in Matthew 9:2, when He forgave a man's sins, "Son...thy sins be forgiven thee." Mark 2:7 plainly states that ONLY God can forgive sin.
A certain ruler says so, by worshipping Jesus in Matthew 9:18.
The Apostles say so, by worshipping Jesus in Matthew 14:33.
A Canaanite woman says so, by worshipping Jesus in Matthew 15:25.
A mother and her sons say so, by worshipping Jesus in Matthew 20:20.
The disciples say so, by worshipping Jesus in Matthew 28:9.
MARK
A man afflicted by a demon says so, by worshipping Jesus in Mark 5:6.
Jesus Himself claimed so, in Mark 2:5, when He forgave a man's sins, "Son, thy sins be forgiven thee." Mark 2:7 plainly states that ONLY God can forgive sin.
LUKE
John the Baptist says so, in John 1:15, by stating "He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me." John said that Jesus came BEFORE him; but Luke 1:24-27 tell us that Jesus was born several months AFTER John. John was clearly referring to Jesus as God incarnate.
Jesus Himself claimed so, in Luke 5:20, when He forgave a man's sins, "Man, thy sins are forgiven thee." Luke 5:21 plainly states that ONLY God can forgive sin.
The Apostles say so, by worshipping Jesus in Luke 24:52.
JOHN
John says so, in John 1:1... "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
John says so, by stating in John 1:3 that Jesus is the Divine Creator of all things. See Colossians 1:16; 2nd Peter 3:5. Genesis 1:1 plainly states that GOD created the universe and all things in it.
John says so, in John 1:10... "He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not."
John says so, in John 3:16, by calling Jesus God's "only begotten Son." To be God's literal Son makes Jesus deity.
Jesus Himself claimed so, in John 14:1, by asking those who believe in God to also believe on Him.
Jesus Himself claimed so, in John 8:24, "...for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." The pronoun "he" is in italics in the King James Bible, meaning it was added by the translators for clarity, and isn't in the Greek. Thus, it literally says, "...for if ye believe not that I AM, ye shall die in your sins." See Exodus 3:14.
Jesus Himself claimed so, in John 8:58, "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." This is the I AM of Exodus 3:14. The people understood what Jesus was claiming, because they tried to kill him in John 8:59.
Jesus Himself claimed so, in John 10:30, "I and my Father are one."
Jesus Himself claimed so, in John 10:33, "The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God."
Jesus Himself claimed so, in John 14:1, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me." Clearly, Jesus was claiming equality with God the Father. See Philippians 2:6 (King James Bible).
ACTS
Peter says so, in Acts 4:10-12, by stating that salvation can ONLY be found in the name of JESUS. Isaiah 43:11,12 tell us that God is the ONLY Savior. In John 14:6, Jesus claimed to be the ONLY way to Heaven.
Paul says so, in Acts 20:28, "Take heed therefore unto yourselves...to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." Paul states that God paid for our sins with His own blood. 1st Peter 1:18,19 clearly states that Jesus is the Lamb of God which shed His blood for our sins. Hence, Jesus is Almighty God!
ROMANS
Paul says so, The Resurrection of Jesus Christ proves His Deity ( Romans 1:1-4)
Nature says so, giving understanding and clarity to the fact that Jesus Christ is God. "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:18-20; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16).
Lost sinners know so, who knowing the judgment of God..." (Romans 1:18, 24-32). Only Jesus Christ Himself judges sin! (John 5:22). The unsaved realize that someday they will stand before Jesus Christ to be judged.
Abraham says so, by believing God. Genesis 15:6 states Abraham believed the LORD! James 2:19 says believing in God is not enough to be saved. John 3:16 says believing in Jesus Christ is enough, so we must conclude that
Abraham believed on Jesus Christ as God because he was justified in Romans 4:3 (Rom 4:1-5)
Paul says so, by declaring that Jesus Christ is Eternal and Immortal! (Romans 6:9,10).
Paul says so, by declaring that Jesus is risen! (Romans 8:34).
Isaiah says so, by prophesying about the coming Messiah who would die on the cross (Romans 9:25-33. Verse 33 states... "Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed." This is a quote from Isaiah 28:16. Paul said that the "LORD" of Isaiah 10:23 is the same "LORD" that died on the cross (Romans 10:11).
Paul says so by quoting Psalm 40:17, 14:7, Isaiah 27:9. Jesus Christ as our Deliverer is God. All will confess Jesus as God at the Judgment Seat! (Romans 14:11).
1ST CORINTHIANS
Paul says so! 1st Corinthians 1:10, "...of our Lord Jesus Christ." "Lord" comes from the Greek word "KURIOS," meaning "supreme in authority." Only God can be Supreme in Authority.
Born again Jews and Greeks say Jesus is God! I Corinthians 1:24, "Christ the power of God." Christ comes from Greek Christos meaning "Messiah." Colossians 3:24 refers to the same Messiah as "LORD," meaning "supreme in Authority." Jesus is Almighty God.
The brethren say Jesus is God! 1st Corinthians 9:5, "Brethren of the Lord." "LORD" comes from Greek "KURIOS" meaning" Supreme in Authority."

Paul says so, by calling Jesus "LORD," meaning "Supreme in Authority "(1st Corinthians 11:32; John 5:22)
The HOLY GHOST says so, (1st Corinthians 12:1-3). It is the HOLY GHOST Himself who gives mankind the knowledge that Jesus is God! He may do this through nature (Romans 1:18-20).
Paul says so, (1st Corinthians 12:18) by claiming God as the Creator. John 1:3 teaches us that Jesus Christ made all things. Also see Colossians 1:14.
Paul says so, by claiming God as the Builder of the Church! (1st Corinthians 12:28). Matthew 16:18 says Jesus is the Builder!
Paul says so, by claiming Christ has risen! (1st Corinthians 15:4). See Job 19:25.

Paul says so, by claiming God is the Savior (Titus 2:10,13; 1:4)
PHILEMON
Paul says so, by claiming power through Christ (Philippians 1:8). Obviously he bases this on the fact that Christ has risen.
HEBREWS
Hebrews 1:3 says so, by claiming Jesus is the Son of God. In John 14:1, Jesus claimed deity by asking those who believed on God to also believe on Him.
Hebrews 3:4 says so, by claiming God as the Creator. Colossians 1:16 and John 1:3 say Jesus is the Creator.
Hebrews 10:30 says so, by claiming God as the Judge--John 5:22 says this is Jesus.
Hebrews 12:2 says so, by claiming Jesus is alive and seated on the right hand of God the Father.
2ND PETER
Peter says so, in 2nd Peter 3:5... "For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old." John 1:3 says Jesus created all things. 2nd Peter 3:5 says that God did.
1ST JOHN
John says so, in 1st John 2:23, "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also." You cannot come to God, except through Jesus Christ--because Jesus came as the manifestation of the Godhead, i.e., the Godhead incarnate (2nd Timothy 3:16; Colossians 2:9).
REVELATION
Jesus Himself claimed to be Almighty God in Revelation 1:8... "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."
John says so, in Revelation 19:13, "...and his name is called The Word of God." See John 1:1.
Christ in the Old Testament
By David J. Stewart
How much do you really know about the Old Testament Messiah?
Before Jesus Christ came in the flesh, what "known" facts were there concerning the Old Testament Messiah? According to the Gospels there were 7 "known" facts concerning the O.T. Messiah and His coming:
FACT #1 - The O.T. Messiah (or Christ) would be VIRGIN BORN in BETHLEHEM of the human SEED OF DAVID!
VIRGIN BORN
Matthew 1:20-23 and Isaiah 7:14
BETHLEHEM
Matthew 2:1-6 and Micah 5:2
SEED OF DAVID
Luke 3:15 - People in the O.T. knew that the Messiah would come in human form (Hebrews 2:6-8 and Psalm 8:4-6 and Romans 1:2,3 and 2nd Timothy 2:8; Hebrews 1:5 and 2nd Samuel 7:13,14 and 1st Chronicles 17:12,13; Matthew 21:9,15; Psalm 118:25,26; Psalm 132:11; Ezekiel 37:24-26). Matthew Chapter one traces Jesus from the seed of David; thus, establishing Christ's kingly heritage. Though Jesus had NO earthly father, Mary was of the kingly line of David.
FACT #2 - The O.T. Messiah (or Christ) would have a FORERUNNER!
FORERUNNER
John 1:21-23; Isaiah 40:3. There was some confusion in the days of John the Baptist, concerning whether he was Elijah or not. Malachi 4:5,6 prophesies that Elijah will return before the Lord's Second Coming (i.e., during the Tribulation Period). Jesus quoted Malachi 3:1 concerning John the Baptist, saying that Elijah had come. This confused some of the people, because John clearly stated that he was NOT Elijah in John 1:21. Yet, Jesus plainly stated in Matthew 11:14 that John the Baptist was Elijah. Why the discrepancy? Luke 1:17 gives us the answer... "And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." John the Baptist preached in the spirit and power of Elijah, preparing the hearts of the people to receive their Messiah.
FACT #3 - The O.T. Messiah (or Christ) would be JEHOVAH/ELOHEEM/EL in the flesh!
JEHOVAH
Matthew 3:3 and Isaiah 40:3; Revelation 19:11,16 and 20:4-6; Jeremiah 23:5,6 and Psalm 22:27-31 and Psalm 47:1-9 and Psalm 96:10 and Zechariah 14:9; Matthew 21:16 and Psalm 8:1,2; 1st Corinthians 10:9 and Numbers 21:5,6; Ephesians 5:14 and Isaiah 60:1; Ephesians 4:8 and Psalm 68:17-19.
ELOHEEM
Romans 14:9-12 and Isaiah 45:22-23; Hebrews 1:8,9 and Psalm 45:6,7; Revelation 19:11-16 and Psalm 82:8; Revelation 11:15-18 and Exodus 15:18; 1st Corinthians 8:6 and Ephesians 3:9 and Colossians 1:16,17 and Hebrews 1:2,3 and Hebrews 2:10 and Genesis 1:1,26 and Isaiah 44:24.
EL
Matthew 1:23 and Isaiah 7:14; Hebrews 1:10-12 and Psalm 102:24-27; Revelation 1:8 and Isaiah 9:6. The O.T. Messiah came to this earth as God in the flesh!
FACT #4 - The O.T. Messiah (or Christ) would be the SON OF GOD!
SON OF GOD
John 1:48,49 (Nathaniel) - Isaiah 9:6,7
Matthew 14:28-33 (Disciples) - Worship (Exodus 20:3)

Hebrews 11:17-19 (Paul) - Genesis 22:1,2
Jesus is the Son of God - John 10:30-36
FACT #5 - The O.T. Messiah (or Christ) would be the SAVIOR (Light or Redeemer)!
GOD OUR SAVIOR
1st Timothy 4:10 (Paul) - Isaiah 43:3,11; 45:15,21,22; 49:26; 60:16; 63:8

Luke 1:31 (Angel)
Luke 2:11 (Angel)
John 1:29 (John the Baptist) - Genesis 22:8
John 4:42 (Samaritans) - Isaiah 53:4-10
Acts 4:11,12 (Peter)
Acts 13:37-41 (Paul) and Habakkuk 1:5
(It was prophesied in Habakkuk 1:5 that God would work a work which Israel would not believe. It was a 2-fold prophecy. The second part being that Israel would reject the REDEMPTIVE work of Christ according to ACTS 13:37-41).
The O.T. Messiah is the Savior - John 1:6-8 and Luke 2:30-32
FACT #6 - The O.T. Messiah (or Christ) would be the ETERNAL ONE!
ETERNAL ONE
John 12:32-34 and Micah 4:7 and Isaiah 9:6,7 and Psalm 72:15-18; 110:4 and Daniel 7:13,14
Revelation 1:8,11,17,18 and Isaiah 41:4; 44:6; 48:12
FACT #7 - The O.T. Messiah (or Christ; Anointed One; Chosen One; Holy One) would be a PROPHET, PRIEST, & KING
NOTE: The Hebrew word for MESSIAH is the same word for ANOINTED. It is the word MASHIYACH (MAW-SHEE-AKH) which comes from the root word MASHACH (MAW-SHAKH) which means "to rub with oil; anoint." The word MASHIYACH is translated 2 times MESSIAH (Daniel 9:25,26) and 37 times ANOINTED.
In the O.T. there are 3 offices that are referred to as ANOINTED. The offices of Prophet, Priest & King.
PROPHET
1st Chronicles 16:16-22 and Psalm 105:9-15 (Abraham, Isaac & Jacob).
Habakkuk 3:13 (Moses)
PRIEST
Leviticus 4:3,5,16; 6:22; 8:2,10-12 (Aaron)
KING
1st Samuel 10:1; 12:3,5; 15:17; 24:6,10; 26:9,11,16,23 and 2nd Samuel 1:14,16 (Saul)

Lamentations 4:20 (Zedekiah)
Isaiah 45:1 (Cyrus)
NOTE: The word MASHIYACH could have been translated MESSIAH 5 times (Daniel 9:25,26 and 1st Samuel 2:10,35 and Psalm 2:2 - See Acts 4:25-27) instead of just 2 times.
*These 3 offices undoubtedly picture the 3 great offices of Christ.

Hebrews 1:13 (Paul)

REVELATION

The O.T. Messiah is the Savior - John 1:6-8 and Luke 2:30-32
FACT #6 - The O.T. Messiah (or Christ) would be the ETERNAL ONE!
ETERNAL ONE

“For in Him [Christ] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” Literally, the Godhead came to this earth incarnate in the man Christ Jesus.
“For in Him [Jesus] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” If you want to come to the God of the Bible, then you MUST come only through Jesus Christ, Who is the beloved Son of God.

ELOHEEM

PRIEST

KING

Lamentations 4:20 (Zedekiah)
Isaiah 45:1 (Cyrus)
NOTE: The word MASHIYACH could have been translated MESSIAH 5 times (Daniel 9:25,26 and 1st Samuel 2:10,35 and Psalm 2:2 - See Acts 4:25-27) instead of just 2 times.
*These 3 offices undoubtedly picture the 3 great offices of Christ.
