Romans 15:1-7 Exploring TLB

Romans 15:1-7 Even if we believe that it makes no difference to the Lord whether we do these things, still  we cannot just go ahead and do them to please ourselves; for we must bear the "burden" of being considerate of the doubts and fears of others--

of those who feel these things are wrong. Let's please the other fellow, not ourselves, and do what is for his good and thus build him up in the Lord.

Christ didn't please himself. As the Psalmist said, "He came for the very purpose of suffering under the insults of those who who were against the lord."

These things that were written in the Scriptures so long ago are to teach us patience and to encourage us so that we will look forward expectantly to the time when God will conquer sin and death.

May God who gives patience, steadiness, and encouragement help you to live in complete harmony with each other--each with the attitude of Christ of Christ toward the other.

And then all of us can praise the Lord together with one voice, giving glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed welcomed you; then God will be glorified.

Galatians 6:1-2 Dear brothers, if a Christian is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help him back onto the right path, remembering that next time it might be one of you who is in the wrong.

Share each other's troubles and problems, and so obey our Lord's command.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 Dear brothers, warn those who are lazy, comfort those who are frightened, take tender care of those who are weak, and be patient with everyone.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 And this has a real advantage; I am not bound to obey anyone just because he pays my salary; yet I have freely and happily become a servant of any and all so that I can win them to Christ.

When I am with the Jews I seem as one of them so they will listen to the Gospel and I can win them to Christ. When I with gentiles who follow Jewish customs and ceremonies I don't argue, even though I don't agree, because I want to help them.

When with the heathen I agree with them as much as I can, except of course that I might always do what is right as  a Christian. And so, by agreeing, I can win their confidence and help them too.

When I am with those whose consciences bother them easily, I don't act as though I know it all and don't say they are foolish; the result is that they are willing to let me help them. Yes, whatever a person is like, I try to find common ground with him so that he will let me tell him about Christ and let Christ save him.

I do this to get the Gospel to them and also for the blessing I myself receive when I see them come to Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:11 All these things happened to them as examples--as object lessons to us--to warn us against doing the same things; they were written down so that we could read about them and learn from them in these last days as the world nears its end.

2 Corinthians 13:9 We are glad to be weak and despised if you are really strong. Our greatest wish and prayer is that you will become mature Christians.

Psalm 68:8-9 the earth trembled and the heavens shook. Mount Sinai quailed before you--the God of Israel.

You sent abundant rain upon your land, O God, to refresh it in its weariness!

Philippians 2:1-2 Is there any such thing as Christians cheering each other up? Do you love me enough to want to help me? Does it mean anything to you that we are brothers in the Lord, sharing the same Spirit? Are your hearts tender and sympathetic at all?

Then make me truly happy by loving each other and agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, working together with one heart and mind and purpose.

Romans 5:1-2 So now, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith in his promises, we can have real peace with him because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

For because of our faith, he has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to actually becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be.

Romans 14:1-3 Give a warm welcome to any brother who wants to join you, even though his faith is weak. Don't criticize him for having different ideas from yours about what is right and wrong.

For instance, don't argue with him about weather or not to eat meat that has been offered to idols. You may believe that there is no harm in this, but the faith of others is weaker; they think it is  wrong and will go without any meat any meat at all and eat vegetables rather than eat that kind of meat.

Those who think it is all right to eat such meat must not look down of those who won't. And if you are one of those who won't, don't find fault with those who do. For God has accepted them to be his children.
