THE SHIFT: FROM LAW TO GRACE
Family, something changed forever when Jesus stepped into the story.
Yes—“the law came through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). The Law revealed God’s standards, but it could never change our nature. It showed us our weakness, not our strength. Trying to obey God while still trapped in the desires of the flesh is like fighting a battle already lost. The flesh can't submit—not because the law is bad, but because we were broken (Romans 8:3).
Paul said it well: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
And out of that frustration he cried, “Who will deliver me from this body of death?” (Romans 7:24).
The answer? JESUS CHRIST!
In Adam, we inherited a fallen nature… a heart whose thoughts, imaginations, and desires constantly pull away from God (Genesis 6:5, Jeremiah 17:9). But God didn’t leave us there. He introduced the Second Adam—Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:45). In Him, we receive not only forgiveness but a new nature.
Think about it:
If the first Adam’s flesh was corrupted and we all “wore” it, then corruption became our default. But Christ came clothed in a sinless life… and now that is the garment we are invited to put on (Ephesians 4:24, Romans 13:14).
The Law was our “schoolmaster” (Galatians 3:24)—a tutor showing us our need for a Savior. But once we come to Jesus, the exchange happens: our sinfulness for His righteousness. Our weakness for His strength. Our striving for His Spirit.
And where the Spirit is, there is life.
“For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” (2 Corinthians 3:6)
This is the beauty of grace:
Not trying harder in the flesh…
But living fully in Christ.
Not bound by rules…
But guided by the Holy Spirit.
Not carrying the old nature…
But putting on the new one.
This is the new life.
This is the new covenant.
This is the FREEDOM found only in Jesus.
