Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

I must have been tired last night. My body did not want to get out of bed until 7. With it still being dark outside at that time, I wasn’t sure what time it was…I was shocked when I saw it was 7. Yesterday was a bit of a beautifully white and peaceful presence with a touch of ‘why am I doing this’ thrown in.

Most of you know that I work for the post office, and in ‘their’ infinite wisdom, to replace our dying vehicles, they purchased a vehicle that has difficulty on dry land, let alone wet or slick. They put the cheapest tires on them, and there is no weight to them. So imagine driving that on roads that you are gauging where the road is based on tire tracks, trees, and fields on either side, and your education of how wide each ‘ditch’ is from the trees and fields to the road. Add to that the continuous beauty of falling snow, covering the tire tracks. That is how I started my day … attempting to help my carriers get in before dark. When I could no longer gauge visually and safely, I called it quits. Sometimes I wonder if the people making the purchasing agreements have ever carried mail a day in their lives. I invite them to come and try their great acquisition in these conditions.

Needless to say, it was exhausting. I didn’t get all of it done that I wanted; however, it was what I had the tools for. Fortunately, most of the customers I met out there were very pleased to see me and then questioned my sanity … haha.

As one of my carriers was getting ready to go home, he and I talked about being able to get out of the parking lot. He made it out with no problem, but I did not. After 30 minutes of trying to get myself out … I finally had to call one of my guys and his sons to come bail me out. While I waited on them, I made one last attempt and nearly made it…but silly me stopped at the entrance to call him and got stuck. I was laughing so hard … so close, yet so far. His boys are the nicest and tower over him in size. But the three of them literally, I think, picked my little car up off the ice and put me on the street. Haha. Told them, 15 years at this office and never had a problem … less than six months left and I get stuck … we laughed and they told me if I had any more problems to give them a call.

I am less than six months out from retirement and have seen so much, learned so much, met so many people. God placed me in this office so that I could feel the warmth of family. Many times I have tried to leave and be the boss somewhere else; however, God wanted me here. He wanted me to have the support, even in rough times, the accountability in those times, and the stamina to help hold others up. I knew this was a special office the first time I watched them carry a heavy load and do it with overtime. True ‘old school’, time-tested, diligence to do their very best always. Hats off to my office. You are the best.

If you have been placed somewhere and you are not sure why, take a moment to look at all the factors and weigh them with God’s promise for you to prosper. I believe that is why I was left in my office. It was where He wanted me to grow…and I have.

Be blessed today and stay warm.
