Obedience Brings Blessing
Scripture
Deuteronomy 12:28 (NKJV)
Observe and obey all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God.
The Reward of Doing What Is Right
Deuteronomy chapter 12 focuses on worship—how, where, and why God’s people were to worship Him. God commanded Israel to destroy every false idol and worship only in the place He chose. Their obedience would separate them from surrounding nations and show the world who the true God was.
In verse 28, Moses reminds the people that obedience brings blessing. God’s commands are not meant to restrict but to protect and guide. When we follow His Word and do what is good and right in His sight, it leads to peace, stability, and blessing—not only for us but for our children and future generations.
For believers today, obedience remains the key to living under God’s favor. When we walk in His ways, we experience His goodness, provision, and protection. Doing what is right in God’s eyes may not always be popular, but it always produces lasting blessing.
Reflection Questions
1. Am I obeying God fully, or am I selective in my obedience?
2. Do I consider how my choices today affect my family and future generations?
3. What does doing what is “right in the sight of the Lord” look like in my daily life?
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for showing me the path of obedience and blessing. Help me to walk faithfully in Your ways and to do what is right in Your sight. Let my obedience bring glory to You and blessings to those who come after me. In Jesus name, Amen.
