As we celebrate Independence Day today, we need to remember that the only reason America exists is because of God, not man.
As I was sitting here watching the rain come down, the phrase "tears from Heaven" entered my thoughts, and a bit of saddness came over me. Watching this country as a whole move further and further away from God is a hard reality pill to swallow. We as a nation need to repent and turn back to worshipping The Creator instead of the creation. What I feel thinking about all this is nothing compared to what God must feel looking down on the things taking place in this country.
Some who read this might think "wow, what a gloomy 4th of July message" but those of you who are awake and see the big picture get it. This is what The Holy Spirit put on my heart to share - no pretty images, no animated videos, just a message. I hope all my brothers & sisters in Christ will join me in prayer today for this nation:
Our Heavenly Father, we come to you with humble and heavy hearts on this day, and ask forgiveness for those in this nation that have turned their backs on You. It is written in Your Word "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter" and yet they cling to the darkness and ignore your warnings. Hear our cry Father, help us to spread Your light in a time of darkness. Give us the words, the hearts and the minds to stand strong ourselves, and to be a beacon of encouragement for others to aid in leading them to You, so that they too will claim they are just in this world, but not of this world, as those of us who love and know You proclaim. Help them to remove their blinders and see that following the ways of the world only leads to destruction, and let them see that there's only one way to You, and that's only through Your Son - our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is The Way, The Truth and The Life. Your words stand forever Father, and we believe that when You said "If My people which are called by My Name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" that it applies also to us in this day and age. We thank You for all this beautiful land You've blessed us with, that we don't even deserve. All glory belongs to You Father, and we honor You today and every day. Please forgive us for our transgressions as a nation Father, heal those who have grown cold and wicked and turn their eyes to You by any means necessary. We pray these things in The Holy Name above all other names, our King, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
