“And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.”
Ezekiel 22:30
Many of us desire restoration, yet resist inspection. We try to build over brokenness rather than confront it. But God is calling us to deal with what has been hidden in the dark places—the unspoken wounds, the ignored compromises, the gaps left unattended. Until the damage is seen, it cannot be healed. This is not exposure for shame, but clarity for reconstruction.
Rebuilding the wall is not merely a physical or emotional task; it is a spiritual act of war. Walls do not only beautify—they protect. The enemy benefits from broken walls. A scattered people are easier to intimidate, discourage, and distract. But when God calls His people to restore the breaches, He also equips them for the battle that comes with it.
“Those who carried burdens were loaded in such a way that each laboured on the work with one hand and held his weapon with the other.”
Nehemiah 4:17–18
Even while rebuilding, the battle continues. The enemy looks for gaps—places where he can slip in and undermine the work of God. Standing, building, and fighting all at once can be exhausting. That is why we must be shielded as we rebuild. Prayer, worship, fasting, and time in the Word are not optional; they are our defence.
“For you shall not go out in haste, and you shall not go in flight, for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.”
Isaiah 52:12
This is a season of rebuilding—but not in fear, not in striving, and not alone. God goes before us, and He stands behind us.
