Title: Nothing Takes God by Surprise
Scripture: “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:30–31
Insight: The Lord who numbers the hairs on a man’s head is not merely aware of details — He governs them. His knowledge is not passive; it is perfect, intentional, and complete. He knows every human being fully, not only as they are today, but as they were before they were formed and as they will be in every season of life yet to come.
God knows what will happen before dawn breaks, what will unfold at dawn, and what the day following will bring. He knows the next phase of every life, even the ones hidden far beyond our imagination. Time does not limit Him. Seasons do not confuse Him. Sudden changes do not startle Him. Nothing ever takes Him by surprise.
Reflection: Each day, souls are born into the world — God knows their number. Each day, souls depart from the earth — God knows them by name. He knows what will happen in the next second, the next minute, and the next hour. He knows tomorrow before it arrives, next week before it begins, next month before it is spoken of, and next year before it is conceived in the thoughts of men.
What feels uncertain to us is already settled in His knowledge. What overwhelms us never overwhelms Him. What shocks us has already passed through His wisdom. This does not mean life will be free of pain or mystery, but it assures us that nothing in our lives is random or unnoticed.
God holds every person in the palm of His hands. Heaven is His throne and the earth is His footstool. (Isaiah 66:1). Kings rise and fall under His authority. Nations change, systems shake, and generations pass, yet He remains unchanging, all-knowing, and fully in control.
When we truly grasp this truth, fear begins to lose its grip. Anxiety weakens. Rest enters the heart. We learn to trust not because we understand everything, but because we know the One who understands all things.
Prayer: Lord, You are great, wonderful, and mighty. You know what we do not know, and You see what we cannot see. Teach our hearts to trust You fully. Deliver us from fear, anxiety, and self-dependence.
Help us to rest in Your perfect knowledge and sovereign care. May the Spirit of the fear of the Lord rest upon our hearts, that we may walk humbly, reverently, and obediently before You all the days of our lives, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Reality: What surprises man has already been known by God. The safest place on earth is to rest in the hands of the One who knows the end from the beginning.
