🏠 God's Indwelling and Our True Treasure 🏠 God dwelt in humanity before the fall, residing within them and granting them—as Creator—a divine life that kept them away from corruption and death; because distancing from God means the dissolution of the created nature, which cannot live without the divine goodness that allows creation to remain. The Apostle, teaching about the delusion of fallen humanity, said about God's authority pertaining to His essence: "upholding all things by the word of His power," and also: "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead" (Romans 1:20). Because the all-good God did not abandon His creation; if He had, it would have immediately returned to nothingness without any delay. But He continued to care for it, knowing He would renew it. So, what kind of people should we be, who have realized the good grace of God? For if God has had compassion on us, called us to discipleship of sonship, and granted us good fellowship in the goods of His divinity in His only Son, how can we spend our lives acquiring perishable things? How can we gather vanities and illusions of false life far from God and make them the treasure on which our lives depend? Because the Lord, the true Physician, said: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." And because humanity is created, they do not live in a vacuum. Rather, as creatures, they receive either divine gifts or what their hearts imagine.
