Heavenly Father, on this Thankful Thursday we lift our hearts in gratitude, declaring with Mary, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior” (Luke 1:46–47). We thank You that true joy is not rooted in comfort or control, but in obedience and surrender to Your will. Like Mary, we choose to say yes to You, trusting that when we humble ourselves before You, You lift us up according to Your purpose (Luke 1:48; James 4:10).
Lord, we thank You for Your mighty power at work in those who yield their lives to You. “For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name” (Luke 1:49). We rejoice because Your holiness does not push us away—it draws us near through grace. Thank You that when we surrender our plans, You perform great things beyond what we could imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
We give You thanks for Your mercy that flows from generation to generation “to those who fear Him” (Luke 1:50). Teach us that reverent obedience is the soil where joy grows deep and steady. You scatter the proud and self-reliant, but You exalt the humble and obedient (Luke 1:51–52). We thank You that when we release control, You release heaven’s provision and peace into our lives (Proverbs 3:5–6; Isaiah 26:3).
Father, we praise You because You fill the hungry with good things (Luke 1:53). We surrender our emptiness, our waiting, and our longing to You, believing Your promise that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled (Matthew 5:6). Thank You that obedience leads to fullness and surrender leads to joy that cannot be taken away (John 15:10–11).
We thank You for Your faithfulness to Your promises, just as You helped Israel in remembrance of Your mercy (Luke 1:54–55). In this Advent season, we rejoice in Jesus—the promised Savior—our greatest reason for gratitude and joy. As we wait, may our lives echo Mary’s praise, our obedience reflect our trust, and our surrender become a testimony of joy to every generation.
Today, we choose thankful hearts, obedient spirits, and surrendered lives. May our joy increase as we yield fully to You, for You are faithful, mighty, and forever good.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
