Ok, this is going to cause interesting conversations, but here it goes. Being a school teacher and seeing how much trouble this causes each year I have to ask it often of Christians. Why is it ok to lie about Santa Claus? We dress up a fictional man up in bright colored garments, give him God like qualities ( pretty much make him a god), and insist on kids believing in him. Take the kids to see him every year and take pictures with him. Tell them they have to be good or he won't come and see them ( which in itself is a lie, because they don't have to be good to get gifts from him). Not only the church supports this false god, but encourage it. We are all sinning by lying about this, but it has gotten so out of control it is keeping people from seeing the truth in Jesus. I used to work with the youth and when asking why they didn't believe in Jesus and a good number would say that they knew there wasn't a Jesus because it was just another lie like Santa Claus. A reason to make them behave. I have had adults not won't the nativity up in church because it did go with their Christmas decorations. So why do Christmas if we do have a nativity. Everything in the Church should point to Jesus. People say they don't do the nativity because it's a icon, a false God, really?! What do you call Santa Claus? If you call them on their lie, they will defend it, but won't defend the true reason we are to celebrate the this and every season, Jesus.
