DAILY DEVOTION — December 19

Choosing Joy

Habakkuk 3:18 (NKJV)

(Yet I will rejoice in the Lord...)

Habakkuk lived in difficult times—famine, fear, and uncertainty surrounded him—yet his declaration of
faith stands as one of the most powerful in Scripture: “Yet I will rejoice.”

True joy is not the absence of trouble but the presence of trust. When everything falls apart, we still
have one unshakable reason to rejoice: our salvation. Gratitude transforms “why me” into “thank You,
Lord,” because it reminds us that God’s goodness is greater than our grief.

Joy is a decision rooted in faith. Even in loss or pain, choosing to rejoice honors God and keeps our
hearts strong.

Reflection Questions:

1. What does it mean for me to say “Yet I will rejoice”?

2. How can I find joy in seasons that feel difficult or empty?

3. How does gratitude help me worship instead of worry?

Prayer:

Lord, even when life feels uncertain, I choose to rejoice in You. Thank You for being the God of my
salvation and the source of my joy. Help me to find strength in worship today. Amen.

Practical Application:

● List one challenge you’re facing and thank God in faith for His plan through it.

● Sing a worship song that reminds you of His goodness.

● Encourage someone else to choose joy through their struggle.

Takeaway Thought:

Joy is not found in what happens to you—it’s found in the One who never changes.
