Listen to the Voice God Provides
Scripture
Deuteronomy 18:15 (NKJV)
The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.
God Speaks Through the One He Sends
Deuteronomy chapter 18 addresses how God communicates with His people. He warns Israel not to follow false spiritual practices and reassures them that He Himself will provide true guidance. In verse 15, God promises to raise up a Prophet like Moses—one who would speak God’s words clearly and faithfully. This promise ultimately points forward to Jesus Christ, the perfect and final Prophet sent by God.
Moses was a mediator between God and the people, delivering God’s Word and leading them according to His will. Jesus fulfills this role completely. He is the Word made flesh, the One who reveals God fully and truthfully. God’s instruction is simple and direct: Him you shall hear. Listening to God means listening to the One He has sent.
For believers today, this verse reminds us that God is not silent. He has spoken clearly through His Son. Our responsibility is not to chase other voices, signs, or substitutes for truth, but to listen attentively to Christ and obey His words.
Reflection Questions
1. Whose voice am I listening to most when making decisions?
2. Do I regularly listen to Jesus through Scripture and prayer?
3. Are there competing voices that distract me from God’s truth?
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking clearly through Jesus Christ. Help me to listen attentively to His voice and to obey what You have revealed through Him. Guard my heart from false voices and lead me in truth through Your Word. In Jesus name, Amen.
